    • Paul Everett Hamler Sr., 80, of New London, entered eternal life on Dec. 12, 2015, in the comfort of his loving wife, Fran.
      He was born April 29, 1935, in New London, the son of the late Albert and Eunice (Daniels) Hamler. He grew up and attended local schools in New London. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran who was honorably discharged.
      He was united in marriage to the former Alexandria "Fran" Bucko on May 18, 1957, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in New London, Fran survives him.
      Mr. Hamler Sr. worked for the City of New London in Public Works Department for 45 years, retiring as manager for Highways and Parks in 1997. He later worked for local schools in the maintenance department. Paul coached youth baseball for the former New London National Little League and was an avid New York Yankee's fan.
      Besides his wife Fran of 58 years of marriage, he is survived by three children and their spouses, Paul Jr. and Lisa Hamler of Quaker Hill, Wayne and Andrea Hamler of Waterford, Tracy and Jason Killin of Quaker Hill; his two grandchildren, Matthew and Mackenzie Hamler; his siblings, Kenneth Hamler of Rhode Island and Barbara Kotecki of Montville; his sister-in-law, Virginia Hamler of New London.
      He was predeceased by two siblings, Albert Hamler and Viola Durkee.
      His family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Dec. 14, at Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. The funeral will assemble at 9 a.m. on Tuesday and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery with military honors.
