- Mrs. Banning Passes Away At Age of 95
Mrs. Ida May Banning, 95 of 519 W. Liberty St. died this Moning in a local hospital after a month's illness.
She was born Oct. 10, 1864 in Gayville, Oswego County, daughter of Samuel and Emeline Witt.
On Nov. 14 1881 she was married to Minor J. Minckler who died in 1895. On March 19, 1900 she married Frank Banning of Blossvale. The couple lived in Blossvale for 48 years, Mrs. Banning coming to Rome upon the death of her husband.
She was a member of the Baptist Church in Taberg.
Surviving are two daughters by her first marriage, Mrs. Charles Hanright, Rome and Mrs. Matthew J. Kernan, Oriskany; eight grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. she was the last of her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Friday at the Griffin & Aldridge Funeral Home with the Rev. David N. Boswell, retired pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Taberg.
Calling hours at the funeral home are from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2-4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow.
