Notes |
- Owego, NY - Betty Ann Lewis passed away out of the loving care of her family and at the Bugles Call to the Post, she set the pace out of the gate, held the rail through the backstretch, pushed three wide on the outside as she rounded the far turn, stormed back into the lead at the top of the stretch, and pulled away from the field in the final furlong to win her Triple Crown of righteousness on Tuesday June 30, 2015. She was 74 years old. She joins in Heaven for a great reunion: her husband, Ronald Lewis; her son, Jason Lewis; her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Richards; and father-in-law, Linden Armstrong. Betty Ann was born on July 5, 1940, grew up in Owego, graduated from OFA Class of 1958, continued to Alfred State College and became a Registered Nurse. From the very first day she met her future husband, Ronald A. Lewis, the two were never separated again. They married on August 9, 1969, started a family with three boys, and lived each day to the fullest. As a couple, they owned and operated Richards Funeral Home in Owego, caring for families with dignity and compassion. As a family, they loaded three boys in the back of a station wagon and went out in search of adventure. Betty Ann was a true pioneer of action videography, toting her video camera and equipment on every endeavor. From deep sea sport fishing off the coast of Florida aboard their charter boat "Blue Fin," to countless baseball games, BMX races, and family events, she was always there to support, encourage, cheer and capture most all the action on camera. Betty Ann had a lifetime love of reading and could devour a good book in days. She especially loved the lavish descriptive words about times past and present and places near and far in the thousands of period romance novels she has accomplished. To that end, Betty Ann appreciated good grammar; she was well-written, well-spoken and was a woman of true class. She will be remembered by her family for her simple, yet thoughtful gifts, her unfailing love and her utmost devotion. She truly lived her life through her family and most importantly, had faith in God. Betty Ann leaves behind her two sons and daughters-in-law, Neil and Sarrah Lewis; Keith and Crystal Lewis; her brother, William Richards; her grandchildren, Jeremy, Jillian, Autumn, Evan, Rhyan and Camden Lewis; her mother-in-law, Harriet Armstrong; and extended family, David, Debbie and Wendy Richards. Her family will gather privately at her funeral home, Richards Funeral Home to celebrate her legacy and cherish her memory. In honor of Betty Ann: Live each day to the fullest. Don't wait another day to follow your dream, go on that adventure, and tell someone how much you love them. Carpe Diem.
