    • Nora Dewar, age 96, of Swift Current, SK passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Nora was born on April 7, 1916, at Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. Her parents, Ellen & Isaac Hazlett homesteaded in the Verlo area where they raised Nora and her sisters, Helene and Jean. She grew up knowing and loving farm life. She learned to play the piano at a young age and in adulthood taught piano, played the organ for church and continued her love of music well into her nineties. On July 3,1941, she married Earl Dewar and together they farmed and raised their family of five children in the community of Hazlet. Nora & Earl retired to Swift Current in 1974, where Nora was an active member of the First United Church UCW. Nora & Earl enjoyed retirement with their friends and neighbors as well as traveling, camping, playing bridge and seeing their grandchildren. Nora was predeceased by Earl in December 2010. Nora was living in The Bentley where she enjoyed living among old friends from Hazlet and many new friends. She especially appreciated the caring help of the Prairie Care staff at The Bentley. Nora is survived by her children, her son, Derek (Phyllis) Dewar of Hazlet; her daughters, Anne Dewar of Vancouver, Janice Dewar of Edmonton, June (Gordon) Robinson of Victoria, and Mary Ellen Dewar (Martin d?Entremont) of Calgary; and her six grandchildren, Evan Dewar, Deneille Dewar, Trent Dewar, Mark Robinson, Megan Robinson and David d?Entremont. A true prairie girl, mother loved sunsets, the fall season and the wonderful sight of fields of ripening grain. The family would like to thank Dr. Claassen and the many health care professionals who cared for their mother over the past months. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 10:30 am from the First United Church, Swift Current, SK, with Rev. Sharon Ferguson-Hood and Elaine Little officiating. The pianist for the service was Lexie Culham with special music brought by Fern Bang singing, ?Bless This House?. The eulogy and tributes were brought by Betty Rowbotham and Mary Ellen Dewar. The ushers in the church were Allan Haukeness, Don Haukeness and John Sloan. The Interment Service was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. In memory of Nora Dewar, donations made to the Canadian Blood Services or to the Charity of the Donor?s Choice would be appreciated by the family.
