| Velma Buerkle Velma Ruth Buerkle 1914 - 2010 Velma was born on March 5, 1914 to Floyd and Ruth Armstrong in Coalinga, CA. She moved to Bakersfield where she remained until she went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gene; daughter, Carolyn Pearre and brother, Donald Armstrong. Velma is survived by her sister, Elisabeth Flood of Fresno, CA; son, Sandy Chaddick and wife Brenda; daughter, Judy Murphy and husband Jack; granddaughter and longtime caregiver, Cindy Koepp and partner Diana Herr; grandsons, Brian Koepp, Greg Koepp and fiancée Yvette Christine; granddaughter, Nicole Ocampo and husband Luis; grandson, Jeff Chaddick and wife Amber; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jacob, Quinton, Kaitlyn, Brooklyn; and adopted great-granddaughter, Maria. Velma was very involved in many local charities, donating both time and money to the causes which she found important, such as the Bakersfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She had a special love for Trinity Methodist Church of which she had been an active member since 1927. But what was most important to Velma was her love of God and family. Velma's family would like to thank the staff of Southwest Westchester Gardens and Optimal Hospice for all of their loving care. Also, a sincere thank you to Mishelle Ulrich for all her love and support. Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010. Visitation will be on Tuesday May 18, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. www.bakersfield.com/obits
