- Doris M. Lewis, age 87, passed away unexpectedly, Friday December 5, 2014.
Doris was born April 28, 1927 in Avoca, a daughter of John & Vera (Wallace) Cleveland. She was a 1944 graduate of Avoca Central School. She married Loren Lewis on September 4, 1948; he predeceased her on Jan. 11, 2008. Doris was formerly employed at Moore-Cottrell in N. Cohocton, Stone Conveyor in Honeoye and Rapid Stand in Victor. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a brother, Donald Cleveland, a sister, Ruth Cragg, a nephew, James Cragg, 2 brothers-in-law, Gordon Cragg and Alton Wheaton and a sister-in-law, Ruby Cleveland.
Doris was a member of the Cohocton United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping, baking, traveling and reading, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Doris is survived by her children, Lorna Lewis and Alan (Ruth) Lewis; 6 grandchildren, Tami (Justin) van Meeteren, Ashley Smith (Jordan Conrad), Eric (Jennifer) Collmer, Joseph (Bettina) Wilson, Richard (Stacy) Wilson and Brandi Wilson (Brandon Havens);
10 great grandchildren, Katy van Meeteren, Brantley Collmer, Elijah Wilson, Jonah Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Kadin Wilson, Tanner Wilson, Hannah Havens and Taylor Havens; 1 sister, Sara Wheaton; 1 brother, John Cleveland; 1 niece, Elaine Burritt; 2 nephews, Ronald (Karen) Wheaton and John (Allison) Cleveland; many great nieces, great nephews & cousins.
Memorial calling will be held 12-2 pm Friday December 19 at the Cohocton Methodist Church, where a celebration of Doris' life will be held at 2 pm.
