- Mary L. Clark, age 93, passed away peacefully Friday, April 30, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
Mary was born March 24, 1928 in Dansville, a daughter of Raymond and Ruby (Snyder) Pfuntner. She was the widow of Elmond E. Clark. Mary held many jobs over the years, she was a cleaner for Frontier Telephone, a home cleaner for many people in Wayland and Dansville and a Crossing Guard for Wayland Central School. She also was a leader for the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in Wayland. She started the Wayland Kitchen Cupboard in 1970 and ran it till 2015. She also volunteered with the Clothing Center that helped people who were devastated by a disaster from 1960-1980. In addition to her parents; she was also predeceased by her husband, Elmond E. Clark; her daughters, Anna L. Bricks and Shirley M. Clark; her adopted son, Charlie Wray; grandchildren, Brian Clark and Gary VanSkiver; great-grandchildren, Jackson Clark, Leah Clark and Corey Swift; brothers and sisters, Marjorie Nenci, Ruth Francis, Shirley Carnell and Arthur Pfuntner.
Mary was a member of the Wayland American Legion Women's Auxiliary, the Mothers of Twins Club, Garden Club, TOPS Programs and the Wayland United Methodist Church.
Mary enjoyed helping other people, collecting angels and dolls and red glass; but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her children, Raymond (Madelyn) Clark, Sally (Tom) Jansch, Elmond (Sherry) Clark, Lisa Clark, Velma (Art) Kahn, Robert Clark and Pam Clark; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; her sisters and brothers, Evelyn Rowe, Walter Pfuntner, Raymond (Linda) Pfuntner and Caroline (Frank) Mulley; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great-nephews and cousins.
Friends may call 5-7 pm Monday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will be held at 7 pm. A graveside service will be held 12pm (noon) Tuesday at Pleasant Valley West Cemetery, Moose Rd., Wayland.
Contributions may be made to any area food pantry, any Girl and/or Boy Scouts or the Wayland United Methodist Church.
