- Berta Christina Ayerst (nee Forsythe), late of Providence Place, passed away on Sunday February 5, 2006. The memorial service will take place on Friday February 10, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. in Parkview Funeral Chapel. Berta was born in Moose Jaw on February 19, 1922 and raised on the family farm in the Eastleigh district, north of Courval, Saskatchewan. She atteneded Eastleigh School and Central Collegiate in Moose Jaw. In 1942, she married her late husband Ken Ayerst and in 1944 they purchased their only home at 23 Lillooet St. E., Moose Jaw where they resided until 2002. Berta was employed at Moose Jaw Times Herald and Hodge Coal for many years as a bookkeeper. Late in life, she attended University of Regina as a mature student, becoming an elementary school teacher in Moose Jaw until retirement. For over fifty years, Berta was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 54 and was a past Noble Grand. Berta was predeceased by her husband Kenneth, parents Robert and Janice Forsythe, brother-in-law Alex Gordon, sister-in-law Ila Forsythe. Berta leaves to mourn her son Russell (Carolyn) of Mortlach, SK: granddaughters Shelley and Coral of North Vancouver; son Lloyd of Moose Jaw: grandsons Lloyd and Lee; son Robert of Moose Jaw: granddaughters Roberta and Leslie of Saskatoon; sister Edna Gordon of Birch Hills, SK; brother George Forsythe of Moose Jaw; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
