Obituary & Death Notice |
| Betty Soens Betty Ann (Smiley) Pelton Soens
Betty Ann (Smiley) Pelton Soens, Danbury, died at her home Dec. 21, 2001. She was 74 years old.
Betty was born May 8, 1927, in Pine City, Minn. Betty was the fourth child and first daughter of John M. and Pearl V. (McKee) Smiley. She and her family moved to Wisconsin in 1930, where she lived most of her youth.
Betty met Earle Francis Pelton and married him Jan. 16, 1946, after his return from World War II. Two children were born to this union. During their marriage they worked together cutting pulp and helping both their parents with farm chores until Earle began working in the Twin Cities for Bridge Builders. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and were involved in the local snowmobile club.
After Earle died in November 1972, Betty met Curtis Edward Soens. They were married in Ely, Minn. They lived near Hinckley, Minn., on a farm and raised sheep and vegetables to sell. When Curtis died in May of 1993, Betty moved back to Danbury to be closer to her family. She had been ill for many years and was housebound most of the time until her death.
