- Gerald Dale Arnold, age 88, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, April 13, 2022 at his home with his partner, Loretta Sanford, by his side. Jerry was born at home on September 16, 1933, the youngest son of eight children to Venus and Jennie (Culver) Arnold, Sr. He graduated from Greenville High School, class of 1951. Jerry married his first wife, Doris (Perry) Arnold Ruthruff, in 1952, the mother of his children. He joined the United States Army in 1953 and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky during basic training, then assigned to Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 1955. Upon discharge, he began working at Federal Mogul in Greenville, and retired from there in 1992. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings, Kathleen (Merrill) Howe, Kenneth (Mary/Gaye) Arnold, Edward (Esther) Arnold, Keitha Arnold, Venus Arnold, Jr., Ardith (Maurice) Lee, and Bonnie (Rex) Sutherland; nephews, Venus Arnold, David Arnold, and Douglas Sutherland; and niece, Tracie Gladding. He is survived by his longtime partner, Loretta; children, Kathy (John) VanderMyde, Kim Arnold (Linda Thiebeault), and Kevin Arnold (Mici Bos); ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Arlene Arnold; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, April 18, 2022 at Hurst Funeral Home, with visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 prior to the funeral service. Rev. Darwyn Hassert will officiate, and graveside services will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery, Langston. Memorial contributions may be given to Mel Trotter Ministries or Spectrum Health Hospice.
