- Mary Evelyn Kirschner, of Harrisonville, died Oct 24, 2009 at Cass Regional Medical Center.
She was born Feb 22, 1923 in Otterville, MO, a daughter of Charles William and Esther Ruby (Miller) Hopkins. On Oct 6, 1943, in Camp Blanding, FL, she married Richard Donald Kirschner, who passed away Aug 28, 1979.
Mary was raised and educated in Otterville, MO. She worked at Unitog for a year after graduating from high school, making uniforms for the troops during World War II. She became a homemaker after she married. She and her husband moved to St. Joseph after he was discharged from the Army. They moved to Sedalia in 1948 and lived on Andindale Farm with their two sons. In 1967, Richard went to work for Boeing and they lived in Montana and Idaho before finally settling in Harrisonville in 1970.
Surviving are two sons Robert D Kirschner and his wife Barbara, of Harrisonville and Charles R. Kirschner and his wife Linda, of Fairbanks, AK; one brother Charles Alvin Hopkins, of Sedalia; three sisters Frances Irene Shutt, of Grain Valley, Bonnie Jean McIntyre, of Otterville and Shirley Ann Bretall, of Tipton; four grandchildren Shelli Lynn Schwarz and her husband Richard, Charles Edward Kirschner, Laura Marie Kirschner and Robert Earl Kirschner and his wife Lura; and six great-grandchildren, Danielle Schwarz, Amber Schwarz, Erik Kirschner, Kyle Kirschner, Rosalyn Kirschner and Willa Grace Kirschner.
She was also preceded in death by a brother William Glen Hopkins.
Pallbearers were Bob Keorkenmeier, Jeff Keorkenmeier, John Bishop, Jason Bishop, David Hopkins and Robert Earl Kirschner.
