Notes |
- ALLEN GARFIELD BARTLEY On Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at Carman Memorial Hospital, Allen Garfield Bartley passed away peacefully with family at his bedside. Allen was born April 20, 1919, at Carman, MB, the third son to Byron Garfield and Winnifred Myrtle Bartley. He is survived by his daughter Lynne Fullerton of Edmonton, AB; his sisters, Myrtle Young of Miami and Trudy Svoboda of Carman, MB; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (McClay) Bartley; his infant daughter Terry Lynn; and his son Ronald Allen. Allen was also predeceased by his brothers, Gorden, Harvey and David. Allen grew up on the family farm West of Roland, leaving home at a young age to take up a career in semi-truck driving. He traveled many miles across Canada and the USA for more than 30 years. During these years he shared his life with his wife Mary of 59 years and their daughter Lynne, living most of their married life in Chilliwack, BC, where he and Mary had many close friends. After Mary's passing in 2004, Allen returned to Carman to be closer to family. He resided in Parkview Manor until his passing. It was Allen's request that there would not be a funeral service. Interment of ashes will be in Brandon where he will join his wife Mary and son Ron. If friends and family so desire, in memory of Allen, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Doyle's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
