Notes |
- Cyril Hector Joseph Liberty (Ladouceur) quietly and peacefully passed away in his sleep at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the age of 101 years, just 3 months shy of his 102nd birthday.
Born February 17, 1922, at Fort Colounge, Quebec to parents Hector Magdelaine dit Ladouceur and Anna Lina Jolicoeur. Survived by his wife of 81 years, Elda Liberty (Byers), daughter of Duncan George Byers and Margaret Watson Hamilton, Daughters Gail Andrews (Dennis), Elaine Hastie (Ken-Deceased), son Richard Liberty (Yvonne Charland). Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers Telesphore (Tel), Donat (Don) and sister Annie. Also, by his half brothers Emile and Ted LaLiberte and half-sister Imilda Gervais (Joseph).
Dad was a strong hard worker starting in his early teens working for Northern Dairy, shovelling coal for Saya Fuels, chopping wood at Sand Dam and a number of other work sites before a long stretch with Bannon Brother Furniture and then retiring after 25 years with Borden Chemicals as a Supervisor and Stationary Engineer. Dad and mom spent retirement fishing for small bass and speckled trout in their Sportspal canoe, many summers picking blueberries. Dad enjoyed working on his daughter?s farm tending the animals and taking long walks with pal Blue by his side. As children we had a Sunday drive down the Wasi road to Grampa and Grandma Byers on Lighthouse Road, swam & picnicked at Kervin?s beach, returning home with a stop for a 25-cent ice-cream cone at George Aero?s Gas Station, Wasi corners.
Our Dad was a quiet man of strong character and certainly compliments the name of his forefathers. His dedication and honesty to family through hard times and hard work are appealing attributes and hopefully will be passed on for generations to come. Special thanks to Dr. Garcia and the staff of 3C, at the North Bay Regional Health Care Centre. Their care was exceptional for Dad whom they affectionately called ?Grampa?, Thank you.
The family will be receiving visitors at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Saturday, December 2, 2023, between the hours of 11 am to 1 pm. A celebration of life will follow at 1 pm in the McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel (North Bay). Interment of cremated remains will occur in the spring at St. Mary?s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice or the Alzheimer Society would be gratefully acknowledged by our family.
