    Edward J. Hamilton
    Edward J. Hamilton
    Edward J. Hamilton Edward J. Hamilton, 80, of 20 St., Montpelier, died Tuesday in Central Vermont Hospital, Berlin.
    Born Nov. 21, 1900 in St. Johnsbury, he was son of John and Martha (Eager) Hamilton and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1920.
    He married Helen Carruthers who died in 1961.
    In June 1962, he married Dorothy Rice in St. Johnsbury.
    For 21 years prior to his 1965 retirement, he had been employed in the accounting department of the National Life Insurance Co.
    Before that employment, he had been a state bank examiner and associated with the Swift Packing Co.
    Mr. Hamilton was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, was past worshipful master of Aurora Masonic Lodge 22, a member of the York and Scottish Rites, a past commander of Mt. Zion Commandery K.T., and member of Mount Sinai Shrine Temple 3, having been assistant recorder for several years and a member of the Shrine Patrol for more than 25 years. He was also a member of Rob Morris OES Chapter 24.
    Besides his widow, he leaves a daughter, Jane B. Hamilton, Miami, Fla.; two sons, Edward J. (Ned) Hamilton, Deerfield Beach, Fla., and R. Douglas Hamilton, Barre; a stepson, Charles R. Knapp, St. Johnsbury and eight grandchildren.
    His funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Bethany United Church of Christ.
    Entombment will be in the Green Mount Cemetery vault pending spring burial in PlainMont Cemetery in East Montpelier.
    Friends may call at the Barber and Lanier Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Montpelier, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Masonic service is scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the Shrine Hospitals for Crippled Children, Box 742, Montpelier 05602.
