    Robert Morse
Robert D. Morse, 88, of Nashua, died on Friday, November 23, 2012, at the Hunt Community, where he had resided for the past 8 years. Bob was born on April 15, 1924, in Danville, VT, where he spent a happy and spirited childhood. He was the son of George C. Morse and Marie Gordon Morse. His mother died in 1924, and in 1937 Bob became the stepson of Betty Beaton Morse.
After graduating from Danville H.S. in 1942, Bob joined the U.S. Army. He served as an MP in Northern Africa and Italy, and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class in 1945. Following the war, Bob earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Michigan State University in 1948 and in 1949 married the love of his life and the girl he had known since her birth, Marian Hamilton. In 1950, Bob earned a Master’s degree in Education from Stanford University. He taught high school in Michigan, Vermont and Massachusetts before settling in Long Island, New York, in 1955, where he remained for the next 31 years. Bob taught Social Studies at South Side High School in Rockville Centre from 1955-1964, and was an Assistant Principal there until 1969. Bob was the Principal of East Rockaway High School in NY from 1969 until his retirement in 1981. He earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from Fordham University in the early 1970s.
Bob and Marian provided a wonderful childhood to their three children in Baldwin, Long Island, and in 1986 they retired to Venice, FL, where they enjoyed a happy and active retirement and provided many memorable vacations to their family and friends. When Marian died in 2004, Bob moved to NH to be closer to his family.
Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband with a love story that defined his life. He was a wonderful, supportive and entertaining father and grandfather who took an interest in anything that was of interest to the people he loved. Bob was best known for his affability and sense of humor. He had many friends and regaled his friends and family with stories of his life, especially those from his childhood in Danville, VT. Bob was also known as a lifelong, diehard Yankees fan and sports enthusiast. He collected sports memorabilia, especially baseball cards, and during his lifetime Bob coached Little League, girls and boys high school basketball and high school cross-country. He collected biographies of every U.S. President. He was politically astute and socially conscious. He was an engaged conversationalist and an avid reader, letter writer, storyteller and sports statistician. He enjoyed world travel, fine dining, Broadway theatre, sports events on any level, breakfast on Jones Beach, and Christmas. He was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Baldwin, NY.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Marian Hamilton Morse, in 2004, and by his dear brother, Gordon S. Morse of St. Johnsbury, VT, in 2001. Bob’s twin brother, Richard F. Morse, died in infancy in 1924. Bob is survived by his son, William H. Morse and daughter-in-law Mary Catherine Morse of Monaca, PA; daughter and son-in-law, Marianne M. Wiley and Todd Wiley of Milford, NH; son and daughter-in-law, Richard F. Morse and Seiko Ohta Morse of Hong Kong; 7 grandchildren: Robert L. Morse and his wife Kerrie of Eldersburg, MD; Laura M.
