Died March 1, 1997 in Harbor City. George was born March 15, 1917 in San Francisco, moved with his family to San Pedro and was a 75 year resident. He was a 1935 graduate of San Pedro High School, a lifeguard at Cabrillo Beach, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. George worked at McCowan's Market for many years and then was employed by Matson until his retirement. He was a member & past President of the Los Angeles Harbor Shrine, a 32nd Degree Mason Lodge #332, a Marine Square, and an Elk. Survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Dennis (Julie); daughter, Denise (Ray) Jones; grandchildren, Kimberly, Todd and Ken; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Rosalie (Ivan) Morriss and Dorothy (Gordon) Milliken; former wife, Mildred Hamilton; stepsons, Mark, Michael and Mitchell (Charlene) Zankich. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to: Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3160 Geneva St., L.A., CA 90020. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 4, 1997, 4-9pm at the Gamby Mortuary. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 5, 1997, 11am in the Gamby Chapel. Private cremation. Services entrusted to the care of GAMBY MORTUARY LOMITA 326-6343.
