Peacefully at home on Saturday September 26. 2015, John Whyte in his 80th year. John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly (Blake), his two daughters- Peggy (Terry Craig) of Sackville, N.B. and Beth (Dave MacDonald) of Unionville, On. and his five grandchildren Kathleen Craig and Scott, Rory, Blake and Lauren McDonald. John will be missed by his sisters Marion (Roy Spratt), Helen (Harry Rylaarsdam, late Murray Hope), Eileen (George Conlin, late Bill Stackpole) and the late Margaret (late Dave Mackie). He will be similarly missed by in-laws Jim and Kathy Blake and special family friends John and Connie Gould. He was the son of the late Stuart and Mabel (Reid) Whyte. All who knew him will miss his dry wit, generous spirit and caring nature. Over the years John promoted and served the agricultural community many ways: 4H leader, President of the East Carleton Junior Farmers, President of the Metcalfe Agricultural Society. Director of the Central Canada Exhibition, of Carleton Crop and Soil Association and of the Farm Safety Council. In recent years he devoted time and resources to the Top Generation Seniors Club which was founded in part by John and Bev's parents. John's family has been ably supported during the final stages of his illness by the skilled and compassionate workers from Bayshore Home Health, from the Regional Palliative Consultation Team, The Community Care Access Centre and Dr. Michael Malek. We express our sincere thanks to those dedicated individuals. The family will meet friends at the Daley Family Funeral Home. 6971 Bank St. (between Scrivens Dr. and Metcalfe corner) on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
