ALMONTE (Special) Funeral services were held at the Comba Funeral Home in memory of James Miller Rodger, passed recently at his residence, Country Street. Mr. Rodger was in his 69th year and had been in ill health for the past two years.
He was born at Middleville in 1886, a son of the late James Rodger and his wife, Ellen Miller. He was married 47 years ago to the former Miss Harriett McKay of Galbraith, who survives together with two sons and two daughters, namely, Thomas MeKay "Mac" and Roy of Almonte, Mrs. William (Ella) Andrews and Mrs. David (Annie) Andrews, also of Almonte.
There is also a brother, William of Almonte; three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Jessie) Ramsbottom of Smiths Falls, Mrs. William (Eva) Rintoul of Innisville and Mrs. William (Edna) Woods of Lanark, and nine grandchildren.
Mr. Rodger was a farmer nearly all his life. First, as a young man he farmed, in the Galbraith section later on the 9th line of Ramsay Township, where John Brydges now lives and until he retired 11 years ago, on the farm of his son, Roy, on the 9th line.
Rev. James M. Ritchie of Almonte Presbyterian Church officiated. The remains were placed in the Auld Kirk Cemetery vault.
