Obituary & Death Notice |
 | John Edward Gorel GOREL, John Edward - Passed away peacefully, with his loving family at his side, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Friday, October 10, 2003, in his 73rd year.
Dearly beloved husband of Marietta (nee Spencer). Devoted and loving father of Barbara Snyder (John), Linda Simas (Joe), Gary Gorel (Andrea), and Joyce Thompson (Vince). The best Grandpa in the world to Tracy Stelmack (George), Jeffrey (deceased), Shawn, Tim, Amanda and Nikki. Great (Papa) to Braedan and forever friend of Becca. Survived by his sisters, Stella, Sophie, Helen and Marie; his brother, Walter, all of Kitchener and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers, Victor and Joseph.
John retired from Becker Lay-tech in 1992 after 34 years of service. He had a love for fishing at his trailer in Mattawa where he and his wife Mary enjoyed many happy years. He also had a talent for woodworking and gardening. He was always our Mr. Fix-it for anything that was broken. He always had time and patience for anything or anyone. Our hearts are filled with sadness at this time but we feel that he has earned himself a special place in heaven.
Friends are invited to share their memories of John with his family at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 p.m. A morning prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen St. E., Waterloo, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Bernie Hayes CR as Celebrant. Private interment in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated. Donations may be arranged through the funeral home at 745-8445 or www.edwardrgood.com. Parish prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Monday at 3:45 p.m.
