    Robert W. Knight, Sr., "Black Knight", passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 73.

    The son of the late William H. Knight and Hazel Walton Knight, he was born on February 28, 1934 in Huntington, Vermont.

    He was the owner of R.W. Knight Home Repair in Monroe. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post #488 in Monroe.

    Survivors include his wife, Beverly L. Plank Knight of Monroe; sons, Jack L. Knight & his wife Gia of Goshen and John S. Knight of Brooklyn; daughters, Ruth A. Stack & her husband Roy of Jackson, New Jersey and Jan M. VanHage & her husband Nick of Goshen; brothers, David Knight & his wife Nancy of Longview, Texas and Emory Knight of McGraw, New York; sisters, Eliza Simard of Springfield, Massachusetts, Marion Benker of Wallkill and Sally Walters of Poughkeepsie; grandchildren, Dariel Stack, Bryson Cooper, Rachael Knight, Carly Knight, Timothy Stack, Derek Knight and Brianna Cooper; great grandchild, Aalijah Knight; nieces & nephews.

    He was predeceased by a son, Robert W. Knight, Jr.

    Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe.

    Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in Orange County Veterans' Cemetery in Goshen, with Pastor David C. Kingsley officiating.

    Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post #488, 532 Lakes Road, Monroe, New York 10950.
