    Robert Franklyn Passut of St. Johnsbury, 90, and most recently of The Canterbury Inn, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015, surrounded by his family.
    Robert was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts, on Aug. 24, 1924, the son of Frederick and Marjorie (Robinson) Passut. He was predeceased by his first wife, Thelma (Royce) Passut, on Feb. 21, 1978, and his second wife, Benita (Boardman) Passut, on March 10, 2012. He also was sadly predeceased by two of his three sons; his oldest Blaine Bernard on May 5, 2011, and his youngest son Barry Robert on Jan. 14, 2013, and by his sister, Margery (Passut) Bean and her husband Benny Bean, of Lyndonville.
    The majority of his working career was as a machinist with Fairbanks-Morse Co. from where he retired in 1989 after 40 years. At that time, he and Benita moved to Jensen Beach, Florida where he worked for Publix Super Markets.
    He enjoyed his retirement wintering in Florida and spending his summers at their camp in Sutton North Ridge.
    He is survived by his son Brent F. Passut and his wife Patricia (Davio) Passut of St. Johnsbury, daughter-in-law Pamela (Lacroix) Passut-Sanford of St. Johnsbury; eight grandchildren: Blaine's children Tracey (Billings) and Jeremy; Brent's children Jeffrey, Justin (partner Erin), and Jordan, Barry's children Tiffany (Danner), Timothy 'TJ', Nathan Leach and all their families; 10 great-grandchildren. He leaves the extended Boardman family members which include Jerry, Bonnie, Jane, Susan, David, Paul, Sheila, Ellen and James and their families which include 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Additional survivors also include former daughter-in-laws Dawn Beliveau and Kathy Dastalto, one niece Sharon (Bean) Dolloff and nephews Steven, David, Jeffrey Bean and families.
    A special thanks goes to stepdaughters Susan Deslauriers for her calls every single night, and to Ellen Boardman for her special lunches and picnics, and to granddaughter Tracey for having her Bumpa up to the house for weekly meals.
    Robert proudly served in the Army during World War II in the Italian campaign. He was a member of Company A of the 351st Infantry, Regiment T in the 88th Infantry Div. of the 5th Army. He later served in the Vermont National Guard and was called to duty during the Korean conflict.
    Burial services with military honors will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in August at the family's discretion.
    Memorial contributions may be directed to The Canterbury Inn, 46 Cherry St., St. Johnsbury.

    Margery E. (Passut) Bean , 80, of Lyndonville, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon Dec. 14, 2010, at The Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndon. She was born Aug. 10, 1930, in Greenfield, Mass., the daughter of Frederick and Margery (Robinson) Passut. She was schooled in St. Johnsbury and attended St. Johnsbury Academy. On Sept. 20, 1947, she married Benny Bean. He predeceased her exactly one year to the day, on Dec. 14, 2009. They had been married for 62 years. Margery had been a member of the St. Johnsbury and the Lyndonville women's clubs. She had been a volunteer at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital and the Fairbanks Museum, both of St. Johnsbury. She had worked in the office of Vermont Tap and Die Co. in Lyndonville for several years. Part-time jobs helped keep her busy: cooking at Comstocks Restaurant in St. Johnsbury, a cashier at First National Grocery store in Lyndonville, and other places during her life. Cooking and baking for her family, reading, writing, working in her flower gardens, bingo and family gatherings brought her much pleasure. She also loved her feline companions throughout the years. Margery is remembered as a kind, gentle, selfless and compassionate person who will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Survivors include her four children, Sharon Dolloff and husband Dave of Lyndonville, Stephen Bean and wife Liz of Leesburg, Fla., David Bean and wife Janet of Leesburg, and Jeffrey Bean and wife Diane of East Burke; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; her brother Robert Passut and wife Bonita of Jenson Beach, Fla.; her in-laws, Calvin Bean of Utah, Richard Bean of St. Johnsbury, Elizabeth Pearsons of Massachusetts, Marjorie Bean of Massachusetts and Arnold Garand of Waterford; numerous nieces and nephews, including Brent Passut; and a special family friend, Nate Winsor with whom Margery was quite close. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Spring burial will be in Woodmont Cemetery in East Burke. Margery's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at The Pines for the exceptional care given to her during the last year and a half she resided there.

    Blaine Bernard Passut of St. Johnsbury, beloved husband of Pamela Passut, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the age of 63.
    He was born in St. Johnsbury on July 31, 1947, the oldest of three sons born to Robert and Thelma (Royce) Passut. His mother passed away Feb. 21, 1978.
    Blaine graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy with the class of 1965. He married Pamela Lacroix at St. Johns Church on June 19, 1967. He served with the St. Johnsbury Fire Department for five years before beginning his 22 year career in the Army in 1973. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant First Class in 1995. He and Pamela lived all over the world: Germany, Louisiana, Arizona, Kentucky; his last appointment was at West Point. Following his military career, Blaine was employed for 16 years at the Caledonia Co. Community Work Camp; he was working up until two weeks ago as the food services supervisor.
    Blaine will be remembered for his passions which included a love for the great outdoors, fishing, hunting, hunting camp in Danville, baseball cards, all New England teams, and above all else the enduring love he had for his family.
    He is survived by his loving wife Pam; his daughter Tracey Nell Billings and Terry Wright of St. Johnsbury; his son Captain Jeremy Blaine Passut and wife Tamara of Ft. Sill OK; Tracey's children Matthew, Katelyn, and Jacob; Jeremy's children, Lydia and Noah; his father Robert Passut and wife Benita of Jensen Beach FL; two brothers, Brent Franklyn Passut and wife Patricia of St. Johnsbury and Barry Robert Passut of South Burlington; cousins, especially Sharon Bean Dolloff of Lyndonville, and Steve Bean of Florida; nieces and nephews, many who called him Uncle Bubba; and his adored pets who were more than pets, dogs Jasmine and Fergie, and Felix the cat.
    Funeral services will be held Monday, May 9 at 1 p.m. at the St. Johns Church on Main St. in St. Johnsbury. Military honors will follow the service at the chapel at
    the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.

    SOUTH BURLINGTON - Barry R. Passut, 53, of South Burlington, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, in the Vermont Respite House in Williston, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
    He was born Aug. 8, 1959, in St. Johnsbury, the son of Robert F. and Thelma (Royce) Passut.
    He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1977. Barry retired from the 158th Fighter Wing VT Air National Guard of South Burlington following twenty-four years of service. He began his career in the U.S. Air Force before joining the VT Air National Guard. He was extremely proud of military service to his flag and country. He had also been a member of the South Burlington Fire Department. After his military retirement, he owned and operated Passat's Roofing and Remodeling in South Burlington. He was an avid NASCAR race fan and was a former dirt track race car driver. He loved his canine buddies, Bear and Sgt. Pepper, and his numerous cats. Barry was always willing to help friends and family in need.
    Survivors include his father, Robert F. Passut of St. Johnsbury; his special and devoted companion, Mary Boushey of South Burlington; two children, Tiffany Danner of Las Vegas, Nev., and Timothy "TJ" Passut of Roanoke, Va.; two grandchildren, Kyla and Willow Danner; a brother, Brent Passut and wife, Patricia, of St. Johnsbury; a sister in-law, Pamela Passut of St. Johnsbury; his former wife and mother to his children, Dawn Beliveau of St. Johnsbury; his former wife, Kathi Dastalto of South Burlington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Thelma Passut; his stepmother, Benita Boardman Passut; and his brother, Blaine Passut.
    Spring graveside services in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury, with Military honors, are being planned. There will be no visiting hours.
