    Mrs. Barbara E. Youker, 76, of 1018 Lotville Road, Dolgeville, town of Oppenheim, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 31, 2003, at the St. Luke's Healthcare Facility in New Hartford. She was born in Schenectady on March 26, 1927, the daughter of Everett C. and Avis E. (Varnum) Candage, Sr. and was a graduate of Woestina High School in Rotterdam Junction. She continued her education by attending Cornell University. Her marriage to Kenneth Youker took place on February 28, 1946, in Rotterdam Junction. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Sherwood. Mrs. Youker was employed by the General Electric Company in the turbine division as a computer programmer. Upon leaving there, she and her husband operated a dairy farm in Burtonsville and also owned and operated a logging company together. She was of the Methodist faith, and personally enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, fishing and crossword and word search puzzles. In addition she was an accomplished world class knitter. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Dan Bailey of Salisbury Center; her sisters, Dorothy and her husband, Gene Gignac, of Delanson, Betty Jane Sheppard of Heuvelton and Jean Oathout of Ravena; her brothers, Everett C. Candage, Jr. of Rotterdam and Ralph and his wife, Sandy, Mason of Cobleskill; her grandchildren, Eric, Daniel and Dana; nieces and nephews; her canine companion, "Howdy," her golden retriever; and a dearest friend, Etta Brys. Graveside services under the direction of the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave, Dolgeville, will be held at a time to be announced in the spring at Rural Park Cemetery in Inghams Mills. There are no calling hours. Memorials in her name should be sent to the St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlin, SD 57326.
