ELDRIDGE, Iowa ? Graveside services for Mildred C. Nantz, 96, of Eldridge, Iowa, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery mausoleum. There will be no visitation prior to services. Mrs. Nantz passed away on Monday, August 8, 2011, at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, Iowa. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Mildred Carolyn Pennock was born in Davenport on September 27, 1914, the daughter of Bracey and Hazel (Edwards) Pennock. On January 20, 1937, she married Robert Nantz in Waterloo, Iowa. During World War II, she worked for Petersen Harned Von Maur darning nylon stockings. Mrs. Nantz was a Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls and a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn (Stanley) Johannsen of Clinton, Iowa, and Barbara Nantz of DeWitt, Iowa; a son, James (Karen) Nantz of Champaign, Ill.; three grandchildren, Sara (Ron) Darling of Clinton, Iowa, Timothy Johannsen of Clinton, Iowa, and Christopher (Tammie) Johannsen of Cordova, Ill.; two nephews; six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Ann Thoensen, and a grandson, Michael Johannsen.

Carolyn Jewel Johannsen, 74, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Medical Center - North on February 10th, 2013. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 15th, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 14th, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements. Carolyn was born on March 17th, 1938 in Davenport, Iowa the daughter of Robert and Mildred (Pennock) Nantz. She was a 1956 graduate of DeWitt High School. She was united in marriage to Stanley Johannsen on September 22nd, 1957 in DeWitt, Iowa. Carolyn was a homemaker. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the Clinton Women's Bowling Association and the Clinton Moose Lodge. She enjoyed camping, bowling, playing bingo and was a beloved Iowa Hawkeye fan. Carolyn is survived by her husband Stanley of Clinton, IA; one daughter - Sara (Ronald ) Darling of Clinton, IA; two sons - Tim Johannsen of Clinton, IA., Christopher (Tammy) Johannsen of Cordova, IL.; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister- Barbara Nantz of Dewitt, IA., one brother - James (Karen) Nantz of Mercedes, TX.; two brother in-laws Lonnie (Carol) Johannsen of Eldridge, IA., Leon (Phyllis) Johannsen of Hot Springs, AR; one sister in-law - Vallene Olson of DeWitt, IA. and her loving dog "Mitzi". She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Michael. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family.
