    Ruth Janousek 96, of Charlotte, MI died Tuesday, October 9, 2007. Mrs. Janousek was born August 7, 1911 in Vermontville, MI, the daughter of Fred and Esther (Cairns) Briggs. Ruth grew up in the Vermontville area and married Austin Janousek on February 17, 1934. Together they owned and operated Janousek's Service Station in Vermontville. Mrs. Janousek was one of the founders of the Maple Valley Riding Club in the mid-forties. She enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses. Mrs. Janousek was a member of the Dirty Dozen Card Club and her neighborhood Birthday Club. Following the death of her husband in 1965, Ruth went to work for the State of Michigan, Income Tax Division until her retirement in 1976.
    She is survived by her daughters, Rosella 'Suzie' (Larry) Schulze, Dawn Jones, Darlene (Stanley) Hosey, son, Terry Janousek; daughter-in-law Lila Janousek and sister-in-law Betty Briggs, 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Austin, 2 sons, Douglas and Darrell and brother, Louis Briggs.
    Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home with Charles Jenson officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville, MI. Visitation will be Friday, October 12, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice.

    Dawn Janousek Jones, 75, of Charlotte, MI died Monday, July 25, 2011. Ms. Jones was born February 15, 1936 in Vermontville, MI the daughter of Austin and Ruth (Briggs) Janousek. As a child on the family farm Dawn enjoyed riding horses with her sisters. She served in the W.A.C., Women?s Army Corp, until her marriage and then they moved around the country as an Army family returning to the Charlotte area in 1966. Ms. Jones was a clerk for the Eaton County Register of Deeds. She was a member of the Charlotte Eagles, and especially liked volunteering for the Handicapped Hayride Activity program. Ms. Jones was a Detroit Tiger Fan, and a country music fan with Waylon Jennings being one of her favorite artist. She enjoyed watching bull riding at the Rodeo, reading and doing crosswords out of the newspaper becoming a competition with her sister to see who could solve it first. She found the most enjoyment in life out of her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Mike (Pamela) Jones; grandchildren, Faith and Carson and sister, Rosella ?Susie? (Larry) Schulze. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Douglas, Darrell, Terry and sister, Darlene Hosey. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI with Reverend Charles Jenson officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Vermontville, MI. Mrs. Hosey retired as an employee for the State of Michigan. She enjoyed crosswords, collecting cookbooks and reading. Mrs. Hosey was especially fond of her grandchildren, doing genealogy and camping with her family. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Stanley; daughters, Kim (Duane) Eldred of Vermontville and Kristie (Anthony) Faynor of Vermontville; 5 grandchildren, Christopher, Katie and Emily Eldred, Ford and Quentin Faynor; sisters, Dawn Jones of Charlotte and Rosella "Susie" (Larry) Schulze of Charlotte; brother; Terry Janousek of Nashville; brothers-in-law, Eldon Hosey and Archie (Florence) Hosey; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Hosey and Lila Janousek. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Doug and Darrell Janousek. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI with Travis Nightengale officiating.     Terry Lee Janousek, age 63, of Nashville, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Battle Creek. The son of Ruth Zone (Briggs) and Austin Janousek, he was born November 8, 1947 in Vermontville.
    He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and for nearly 20 years worked as a manager with the State of Nevada Department of Transportation.
    Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. Arrangements were entrusted to the Michigan Cremation Company, honored providers of Veterans Funeral Care.
