Robert Ellsworth Gay, devoted husband of the late Hazel (Doane) Gay, died October 29, 2013 in Chester. He was born on January 14, 1919 in Middletown, CT to the late Ellsworth Alger Gay and Augusta (LaPlace) Gay.
Bob spent his early years living in Essex and Hadlyme where the Connecticut River was his playground. He had a love for the river and the Steam Ship Hartford all of his life and was a member of the Connecticut River Museum. He attended two one-room school houses in Hadlyme, the North School and the South School and was a 1937 graduate of the Nathan Hale School. Bob proudly served as a US Sailor in WWll. Bob and Hazel spent their seventy-four years of marriage living in Westbrook and Clinton where they were members of the Elk's Club and the Grange. After Bob's retirement from UARCO, Inc., he and Hazel enjoyed spending winters in Florida and traveling in their RV throughout the United States with the Good Sam Club.
Family history was a passion for Bob and he was a member of the Old Saybrook Historical Society. He spent many of his retirement years researching his family roots, first by car then when he was eighty years old he got his first computer and used it to complete documenting his family tree. He loved talking about family and the history of Essex and Hadlyme. In his free time he also enjoyed painting, and music.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Mosher of Clinton, Janet Clark and her husband John of Coral Springs, Florida, Linda Maynard and her husband Joel of Westbrook and Pamela Anderson and her husband Harry of Killingworth as well as ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

Harry L. "Roy" Welge Jr., 71, passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, after a long illness.
Roy was retired from the Connecticut DOT. He loved boating, camping, hunting, fishing, and traveling. He particularly enjoyed spending his time on the shoreline's most beautiful natural resource, the Connecticut River.
Roy was born in Old Saybrook.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Betty Peterson and Chris Goss, both whom passed away from the same illness as Roy.
He is survived by son, Robert Welge and his wife, Lynn; daughter, Tammi Welge; two grandchildren, Tammi Welge and Melissa Cutone; by a sister, Beatrice "Gay" Jacques; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook. Family and friends are also invited to meet at Eight Mile Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, in Lyme for the burial service with full military honors.

Betty L. Welge Peterson of Williams Road, Wallingford, died Thursday at the Skyview Center in Wallingford. She was 68.
She was born in Essex and had been a Wallingford resident for many years.
She is survived by her husband, David A. Peterson; two sons, David A. Peterson of Hadlyme and Dana H. Peterson of High Springs, Fla.; a sister, Beatrice Gay Jaques of Deep River; a brother, Roy Welge of Westbrook; and three grandchildren.
Calling hours will be noon to 1:15 p.m. Saturday at Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, followed by a service at 1:30 p.m. Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Old Saybrook. Donations may be made to the Huntington Disease Society Connecticut Chapter.

Goss, Jr. her children, Tracy Ellis and her fiancé Jim Scruggs, Christine and Rick Kubik, Derrick and Marissa Carlson, Dawn and Scott Biser, Eugene F. Goss, III and Jessica Goss. She is also survived by her mother- in-law, Dorothy Goss and eight grandchildren, Mark, Katrina, Matt, Katie, Gage, Cody, Teyler and Aveya and her siblings, Roy Welge, Betty Peterson and Beatrice Jacques. Beatrice G. (Welge) Jacques, 68, of Centerbrook passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on August 17, 2015. She was born in Middletown on June 9, 1947, the daughter of the late Harry & Beatrice (Gay) Welge. Beatrice was involved in the Old Saybrook Public Schools, was a self-employed housekeeper for 24 years and an aide for 10 years at Essex Village and Meadowbrook Manor. In addition to her parents and her husband Joseph Jacques who passed away in 2006, she is survived by her sons, Steven Jacques of North Carolina, Joseph Jr. and Jeffrey Jacques, both of Old Saybrook and a stepson, Shawn Jacques of CT, as well as seven grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Sheffield Street in Old Saybrook on Thursday ,September 3, 2015 at 10:00AM.
