Claire L. (Phelps) Bullis, 85, beloved wife of Neil K. Bullis, died Monday, February 13, 2017, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Eveleen (Colclough) Phelps. She received her education in the Lynn school system and graduated from Lynn English High School.
As a young woman, Mrs. Bullis was employed as a bookkeeper for Lynn Gas Company and Ernie?s Service Station in Peabody.
A resident of Wenham for the past 45 years, Mrs. Bullis was an avid reader and was accomplished at crocheting, knitting and needlepoint. Claire and her husband enjoyed doing puzzles together as well as camping and traveling across the country as they toured the U.S. and Canada. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage, she is survived by three daughters, Susan L. Cassidy and her husband, John of Georgetown, Cynthia Rubenfeld and her husband, Louis of Newbury and Cheryl Gauthier and her husband, Mark of Lynn; one son, Neil K. Bullis, Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann of Hudson; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many longtime relatives and friends. She was also the sister of the late Ernest Phelps, Jr.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, February 19, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 20, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Swampscott Cemetery.
