DEATH OF THE RECTOR?S SON.
It is with the deepest, regret that we report the death of Henry Walton the only son of Rev. and Mrs. H. L. Boldero, the Rectory, Dymchurch. The deceased, aged 12 and 2 months, was a pupil at St. John's School, Leatherhead, and had been suffering from an attack of influenza, from which he was recovering when he was taken ill with scarlet fever. For five or six days the illness seemed to run its usual course, but on Thursday in last week meningitis set in, and his parents were sent for. He passed away on Friday, March 20th.
When the news reached Dymchurch it cast a feeling of grief over the whole village, and everyone felt the deepest sorrow and sincerest sympathy with Mr. and Mrs. Boldero.
The body was conveyed to Dymchurch on Monday by road, and on its arrival the first part of the burial service was read, and the choir and congregation sang the hymn, "For all the Saints who from their Labour Rest, this hymn being chosen as it was the special favourite of the deceased boy.
The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. P. H. Collins (Vicar of Lydd and Rural Dean), and Rev. C. J. Oliphant (Rector of Burmarsh) conducting the service. The choir and congregation sang the following hymns,"For ever with the Lord,? "Christ will gather in His own,? and "On the Resurrection Morning,? with Psalm xc.
Among those present were Rev. and Mrs. Boldero (father and mother), Miss Monica Boldero (sister), Rev. J. H. Boldero (Vicar of Morton, Lincs.), Mr. W. N. C. Burrell, Great Barton, Suffolk (uncles), Rev. G. M. Scott (Rector of Lympne), Rev. G. Brocklehurst (Rector of Newchurch), Rev. N. R. Raven (Rector of Ivychurch), Mr. F. P. Scott, Seabrook Lodge School, Hythe, Messrs. W. Smith and T, Niel (Churchwardens), Messrs. F. Elliott, R. S. Jones, P. Broadley, and J. T. S. Brightman (sidesmen), Mrs. Oliphant, Captain and Mrs. Warren, Mrs. Waddell, Miss Knott, Mrs. Lewis, Miss H. Smith, Miss Else, Mr. Rayner, Misses Hunt, Mrs. Wood, Miss Elliott.
Many and beautiful were the floral tributes sent, including several from the deceased?s school friends and playmates. Some of them were inscribed:

The. Rev. E. A. Downes (Headmaster of St. John?s, Leatherhead), spoke most highly of the deceased, as a boy "exceptionally brilliant, with every prospect of a distinguished career.? The Rev. Dr. William Hunt, Chairman of the Committee of St. John?s School, wrote a most sympathetic letter the parents on behalf of himself and his colleagues, in which he said: "Mr. Downes has told me how full of promise your son?s youth was. A general favourite, with bright and pleasant temperament, excellent in conduct, and intellectually forward beyond his years.?
A memorial service was held in the School Chapel at St. John?s on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. References were made to the sad event at the services.

IN MEMORIUM ? St JOHN?S SCHOOL, LEATHERHEAD
On March 20th, died in the School Infirmary, Henry Walton Boldero, only son of Rev. Henry Lonsdale Boldero and Mrs. Boldero, of Dymchurch Rectory, Dover ; born January 24th, 1902.
Boldero had been for some days ill in the Infirmary with scarlet fever, and to all appearances was making rapid progress towards convalescence. On the morning of Thursday, March 19th, meningitis, however, set in, and he died unconscious in the early hours of Friday morning in the presence of his father and mother and the Headmaster.
The body was conveyed by motor-hearse to Dymchurch, where the funeral took place on Tuesday, March 24th. A memorial service was held on the same day in the School Chapel.
Great sympathy will be felt for Rev. H. L. and Mrs. Boldero in their sudden and overwhelming loss. The School has to mourn the cutting off of a young life which showed unusual promise of a brilliant future career, and the many who knew him will never forget his bright and happy disposition and the frank openness of his character.
