MURRAY, Gertrude "Gracie" (Nee Haney)
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gracie on April 21, 2016 at 96 years of age. Reunited with her loving husband James Murray with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. Cherished mother of James Brooke Murray and the late Trudy Best. Adored Grandma of Shelley DiRisio and husband Rob, Michelle Baker and Great-Grandma of Sydney and Samantha DiRisio. Survived by brother Doc Haney and wife Norma and predeceased by sisters Lucille, Alice and Kay and brothers Harold and Claude. She will also be remembered by special friend Bob and many nieces and nephews. Gracie along with her husband James were active members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 143, Air Force Club of Windsor and long-time parishioners of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Aspen Lake for all of your love, care and compassion given to Gracie. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. East
on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers Friday at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (4401 Mount Royal Drive) from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In memory of Gracie, donations may be made to the Downtown Mission.

Gertrude married James A. Murray on 25 Aug 1944 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. James (son of Wilfred Alexander Murray and Beulah Margaret Lapierre) was born on 21 Dec 1921 in Ontario, Canada; died on 28 Apr 2009; was buried in Heavenly Rest Catholic Cemetery, Windsor, Essex County, Ontario, Canada. Passed away August 27, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Devoted and loving wife, best friend and soul mate of Martin C. Best (Trudy's Big Teddy Bear) for 14 years. Dear and cherished Mother of Rachelle (Shelley) Lynn DiRisio (Robert). Proud "Gamma" of Sydney Marie. Beloved daughter of Gertrude I. "Gracie" and James A. Murray (2009).She will be sadly missed by her brother Brooke Murray. Trudy was an avid gardener, a true homemaker, as well as a devoted employee of Windsor's Metropolitan Hospital for over 35 years. She will be sadly missed by all her coworkers and friends from the hospital as well as all those whose lives she touched. As an expression of sympathy those who wish may make a memorial donation to the Hospice of Windsor. Visitation Sunday 3-5 & 7-9pm.
