    Passed away peacefully at Macassa Lodge on December 27, 2012 in her 97th year. She will be deeply missed by her brothers Fred Cobb, Frank Cobb, Jim Cobb, and Phillip Cobb, as well as her many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her siblings Hazel Byers, Margaret Cobb, Richard Cobb, Rose Birt, Esther Cobb, and Lily Cobb. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Macassa Lodge for all their wonderful care.     The funeral service for Margaret Caroline Cobb was held Thursday, April 1, 2004 at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan.
    Speakers for the service were Carson Wallace and Peter Zimmerman. The organist was Deanna Van den Dries. Music for the service included ?Art Thou Waiting? and ?The Truth of God?.
    Casket-bearers were Brian Byers, Ken Cobb, Albert Cobb, Steve Cobb, Edward Hazelwood and Donald Hazelwood.
    Spring Interment will take place at Pinehill Cemetery, Mattawa.
    Following the service, family and friends gathered at the Powassan Legion Hall for a luncheon and time of fellowship. She died peacefully at North Bay General Hospital on Sunday, March 28, in her 87th year.
    Margaret Cobb was the dear sister of Beryl Cobb of Hamilton, Fred Cobb (Grace) of Powassan, Frank Cobb (Dorothy) of Huntsville, Rose Birt (Mervin) of P.E.I., Esther Cobb of Paris, Jim Cobb (Helen) of Callander, Phillip Cobb of Powassan, Lily Cobb of New Brunswick and the late Hazel Byers (Gordon) and Richard Cobb.
    Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Shay Cobb of Saskatchewan, other relatives and friends.
    Margaret was born and raised in Mattawa (Papineau), one of 11 children to May Pearl (Harper) and George Mark Richard Cobb.
    As a young woman she moved to Hamilton to work. After a while she moved back to Mattawa, before settling in Powassan.
    Many will remember Margaret for her visits selling for the Fuller Brush Company. She was a very quiet, gentle person who loved to look after people and who appreciated caring for flowers.
    Margaret will be greatly missed by all her family, friends and neighbours.

    Richard Cobb
    Mr. Richard Cobb, resident of Theodore, beloved husband of Shay, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 81 years of age. Richard George Cobb was born on October 7, 1919 near Mattawa, Ontario, the fourth child of George and Pearl (nee Harper) Cobb. At the age of 16 he chose to serve God, which would be a guide and comfort to him all his life. As a young man, he held various farming, logging and factory jobs. He served his country for four years during World War II as a member of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. After the war, he took a cabinet making course and worked in that field until he began farming in 1949. In 1947, he and four other young relatives came west, where he met Hazel 'Shay' Price. He returned in September of 1949 to take her home as his bride. For the next 29 years, Richard and Shay lived on their farm in the Powassan, Ontario, area, where their 3 sons were added to the family. In 1978, the couple moved to Theodore to be closer to their boys, who had come west earlier. Their grandchildren and their trips east and west in their camper were highlights of their retirement years. A debilitating stroke in October of 1991 necessitated hospitalization until April of 1993, at which time he was able to return home to the loving care of Shay.
    He leaves with loving memories, his wife of 51 years, Shay; sons, George and his wife Jan and their sons Jeff, Jolan (Julie), Jayden (Donna) and Justin; John and his wife Anita and children Linnea, Alissa, Jackson and Laura; and David and his wife Mavis and their children Philip, Faron, Regan, Jesse, Emily and Dickon, as well as three great grandchildren, Trae, Brett and Megan. He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Beryl, Margaret, Fred (Grace), Frank (Dorothy), Rose (Mervin) Birt, Esther, Jim (Helen), Philip (Mae) and Lily, and a brother-in-law Gordon Byers, all in eastern Canada. He was predeceased by his eldest sister, Hazel Byers. He is also fondly remembered by Shay's family in BC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his many other relatives and friends.
    The funeral service was held on Saturday, January 6, 2001 at the Theodore Recreation Centre in Theodore. Dale Shultz, Jack Price and Mary Roper officiated. Ushers for the service were Lloyd Kneesch, Keith Byers, Dave Hermanson and Ken Kostenuk. Attending the register were Linnea and Alissa Cobb and Tracy Colwill. The pianist, Adrienne Sinclair led the congregation in the singing of the hymns Lord, In My Need I Seek Thy Face and Approved of God. A special music selection, Moments of Blessing, was sung by Daren Young, Jack Kofoed, Leah Lennox, Anne Malcolm and Susan Cobb; and those present sang Sing To Me the Songs of Zion. The interment followed in the Theodore Town Cemetery with grandsons Jeff, Jolan, Philip, Jayden, Faron and Regan Cobb serving as the casketbearers. Jim Atcheson officiated at the committal service. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.

Hazel was born on 25 Aug 1927 in Armstrong, British Columbia, Canada; died on 22 May 2014 in Theodore, Saskatchewan, Canada; was buried in Theodore Town Cemetery, Theodore, Rural Municipality of Insinger, Saskatchewan, Canada.     Mr. Frank Elliott Cobb passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 14, 2018 in his 96th year. Beloved husband of Dorothy Leah and dear father of Kenneth (Myrna) Cobb and father-in-law of Brenda Cobb. Loving grandfather to Leah, Bradley, Blair (Amanda), Graham (Melissa), Martin and Natalie and six great grandchildren. Survived by brothers Jim and Phillip. Predeceased by his son Raymond Cobb (Brenda), sisters Hazel, Margaret, Beryl, Esther, Lily, Rose and brothers Richard and Fred. Left to mourn his loss are numerous family members and friends.
    Frank proudly served in the Canadian Military during WW2. Soon after WW2 ended, Frank met Dorothy and they were married in 1951. Frank and Dorothy made their first home at Clappison Corners where their two sons Ray and Ken were born. In 1960, they built a new home on Arkell Road in Guelph where they lived until 1990 when they moved to Huntsville. After nineteen years in Huntsville, Frank and Dorothy returned to Guelph and shared a home with Ken and Myrna. For the past two years, Frank has required additional nursing care and moved into Wellington Terrace. There he received loving and compassionate care until the end. We are forever grateful to the wonderful staff at Wellington Terrace for all of their love, compassion and competent care.
    Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 2723 Victoria Street North, Breslau (519-904-0400) on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 6:00 p.m., to 9 p.m and on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 12:00 p.m., to 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Internment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

    Gordon Harper Hazelwood of Guelph, Ontario died peacefully in his sleep on November 16, 2023, at the age of 96.
    Gordon was born in Papineau Township, Ontario to his parents Herbert & Olive (Harper) Hazelwood on January 14, 1927. At 3 years old Gordon lost his mother to scarlet fever. A few years later Bert married Esther Munro, who became a loving mother to Gordon and his brother Don. In 1944 the family moved from Mattawa to the farm in Almonte, Ontario. He made his choice to follow Jesus when he was a teenager. He loved the farm but at 23 he followed the call to spread the Gospel Story and was active in that work for 65 years. He loved to talk about Jesus and share messages from the Bible. He will be missed by family and many friends.

    Notes:

    George Ewart Cobb was the first-born son of Richard and Hazel [Shay] Cobb, arriving on September 7, 1950. He grew up on their farm near Powassan ON, joined five and seven years later by his brothers, John and David. He became a true ?farm boy?, doing chores, cutting wood in the wood lot, cutting and raking hay. While going to school, he worked for various neighbouring farmers, most notably for his cousin Lloyd Byers. At age 15, he made a commitment to serve God, a choice he was true to until the end of his life. Upon completing Grade 12, he went to Shelburne ON to work for Carl and John Kidd on their farm.
    In early October 1969, his buddy John Kidd persuaded him to go West with him, taking a half-ton truck load of apples to sell for gas money. Once in Saskatchewan, he began working for Don & Vern Sinclair on their farm at Fort Qu?Appelle. On his first trip to the city of Regina, he met Janice Leonhardt, a nursing student, and after their first date he decided she was the one he was looking for. They were married July 23, 1971 and resided in Regina where George had begun apprenticing as a plumber. Their four sons, Jeffrey, Jolan, Jayden and Justin were added to their household in the following eight years, as well as numerous boarders ? brothers, cousins and friends. After obtaining his journeyman?s papers, he then mentored his brother David and cousin Keith Byers while employed at Welldone Plumbing & Heating. Weekends were often spent traveling as a family to plumb at various friends? homes in Saskatchewan & Alberta.
    In April 1980, George, Jan and boys moved to Theodore to take over Jan?s parents? farm which also included the privilege of hosting the annual Christian convention held in that yard since 1929. Farm life soon included a milk cow, chickens, turkeys, geese, pigs, horses and 2 llamas. George continued his plumbing trade, working it in around farm priorities. Camping was always a favourite holiday, and as the boys grew, goose & deer hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, boating, quadding and cutting wood were frequent activities. When the boys left home, they returned most weekends with many friends in tow.
    With boys gone, George and Jan sold their cattle and discontinued raising poultry, concentrating on their increased cropping operations. Later still, they rented out some of their land and enjoyed travelling more, often with good friends or their married sons & families, making more life-long memories and friends along the way. George was a skilled carpenter, crafting all their kitchen cabinets and an all-round diagnostician and fix-it man, be it mechanical, electrical or plumbing challenges. Throughout their 48 years of marriage, they worked seamlessly as a team of two, just like George?s daily peanut butter and margarine toast.
    George had a sudden heart attack at the Theodore Town Hall on November 11, 2019 and passed away within hours in the Yorkton Health Centre. He leaves with many special fond memories his loving wife, Jan, sons Jeff [Jodi] and their daughters Merra & Nella of Fort Qu?Appelle, Jolan [Julie] and their daughters Megan & Rachel of Brooks AB, Jayden [Donna] and their sons Trae, Brett & Bryn of Fort Qu?Appelle, Justin [Candace] and their children Payton & Jayda of Peebles, brothers John [Anita] and David [Bonnie] and one uncle Jim Cobb as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Jan?s parents Paul & Irene Leonhardt, his aunts & uncles [& their spouses] and nine cousins.
    The family would like to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support shown to them. Thank you?The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Anne Portnuff Theatre in the Yorkton Regional High School. The officiants were Jim Atcheson, Dale Shultz, Mary Roper, Dale Wipf and Marci Howden. Jack Reddekopp and Jenelle Gregg officiated the Graveside Service. The Pianist was Irene Flett. David & Viola Hermanson, Ron & Brenda Hermanson,
    Norman & Minnie Lou Howden, Leonard & Marlene Kennedy, John & Linda Malcolm, Morris & Karen McChesney, Paul & Shannon Moore, Daren & Karen Young attended the guest registry. The Ushers were Shawn Graham, Ken Kerslake, Ken Kostenuk, Nevin Morrow, Orrin Novak and Dallas Young. Jeffrey Cobb, Jolan Cobb, Jayden Cobb, Justin Cobb, Jesse Cobb and Jackson Cobb served as Casket Bearers. The Interment was held in the Theodore Town Cemetery.     COBB, Stanley Rae - Following a brief illness, Stanley Cobb, formerly of Powassan, died peacefully at Henderson General Hospital, Hamilton in his 44th year. Stan was the beloved son of Mae Cobb of Beeton and Phillip Cobb of Powassan. He was the much loved brother of Roy Cobb (Cindy) of Salt Springs, N.B., Albert Cobb (Gwen) of Powassan and Martha Wilton of Beeton. Stanley was predeceased by his sister Grace Cobb. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends and “brothers” from his time as a Big Brother in the North Bay area.     A Kitimat woman is dead following a spectacular three vehicle accident on Highway 1 just west of Salmon Arm Wednesday evening.

    Salmon Arm RCMP Sergeant, Eric Castle, says the accident occurred about 9 p.m. when a westbound White Ford SUV was spotted travelling in the on-coming lane.

    "A grey Honda van travelling east on the Highway, driven by a Kitimat man, took evasive action but collided with the SUV," says Castle. A third vehicle, also travelling east, also collided with the Honda it was following."

    He says all three vehicles involved extensive damage.

    Castle says a Kitimat woman, in the front passenger seat of the Honda, died as a result of her injuries.

    "The driver of the SUV is under investigation for impaired driving and is at present being held in Salmon Arm police custody."

    No word on the condition of the other people involved.
