    Nipissing - A resident of Nipissing most of her life, Mrs. William Murdock King, who leaves 245 direct descendants, died Tuesday at Eastholme, Powassan, following a lengthy illness. She was 88.
    Friends may pay their respects at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan, where the funeral service will be conducted in the chapel Friday at 2 p.m. by Fergus McElrea. Interment will at Nipissing Cemetery.
    Rhoda Annah King was born Sept. 4, 1881, at Parham, Ont., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Parker Perry. She came to Nipissing as a young girl with her parents. Her marriage to William Murdock King took place at Powassan Sept. 20, 1897.
    Predeceased by her husband in 1944, Mrs. King is survived by seven sons: William and Daniel, Nipissing; John, Powassan; Joe, Little Current; George and Henry, Sudbury and Simon, Trout Creek; four daughters: Mrs. R. Busby (Florence), Iron Bridge; Mrs. M. Yerkie (Jean), Nipissing; Mrs. Fred Young (Ruth), Powassan and Mrs. Wesley Watson (Ethel), Hamilton; 62 grandchildren, 158 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. J.B. McCollom (Nellie), Oliver, B.C.
    Mrs. King was predeceased by two daughters.

    JOSEPH KING
    A former resident of Little Current Joseph King of St. Catharines died Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Catharines following a brief illness. He was 73.
    Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from Paul Funeral Chapel, Powassan, Ontario. Interment at Nipissing Cemetery.
    Born, March 21, 1906 at Luther, Michigan. Mr. King was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. William King.
    Mr. King was employed with the C.P.R. for 31 years and was a member of the senior citizens Club, St. Catharines, a member of the Orange Lodge at Little Current and a former member of the Little Current town council.
    Mr. King is survived by his wife the former Thelma Allan whom he married Oct. 13, 1927 at North Bay, one son Gordon of Los Angeles and one daughter Mrs. Clayton (Norma) Taylor of Elliot Lake.
    Also surviving are five brothers and four sisters, Simon and Daniel of Nipissing, George and Henry of Sudbury, John of Blind River; Mrs. Fred (Ruth Young of Powasson,: Mrs. Rufus (Ethel) Newbatt of Thunder Bay; Mrs. Richard (Florence)Busby of Iron Bridge and Mrs. Jean Yerkie of St. Catharines.
    Ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive.

Young (Kathy) of Powassan, Veronica McCutcheon (Mark), Innisfil, Helen Armstrong (Paul) of Bracebridge, her daughters-in-law Shirley Young of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Theresa Young of Ottawa. Beloved grandmother of 36 grandchildren and 45 great- grandchildren. Ruth is also predeceased by her brothers William, John, Joseph, George, Henry, Daniel, and Simon King, her sisters Annie Bella King, Florence Busby, Katie King, Jenny ?Jean? Yerkie, and Ethel Newbatt.
    The family will receive visitors at the PAUL FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at St. Joseph's Church on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Powassan. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery. If desired, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

    Simon King - Simon was born in Nipissing, August 15, 1918, the youngest son of Anna (Perry) and William King. While logging in Port Loring he met Isabel Lambkins. The two were soon married and they settled their home near Nipissing. Over the years Simon worked in the logging camps for Odorizzis, Ellesmeres, Stephens and Duff Moore. After the breakdown of Simon's first marriage he married Evelyn Hummel. Together they ran a mink farm and Simon kept a small stable for work horses that he hired out. Through the years Simon became a trucker as he transported cattle, milk and gravel. He also handled a mail run, and trucked logs and pulp wood. Eventually the trucking took prominence and Simon bought his own rig. He served as a broker for such companies as Caustic, Kingsway, Motorway and Nickel City but over the 25 years he operated his truck he kept returning to Kingsway. His trucking was done mostly in Ontario. Throughout his life Simon liked to invest his money, and did so in various endeavours such as home construction, real estate and the stock market. He like to play cards and enjoyed his membership in the Golden Sunshine Club. He especially enjoyed the seniors dances. Simon had his own unique viewpoint on most everything and was free to share it! He was his own boss!

Dear brother of Kay (Larry Cashmore predeceased), James (Rita) both predeceased, Lloyd (Fay), Eddy (June), Richard (Beverly), May (Bob) (Stanley Sprague predeceased), and Clifford (Lillian), Mary (Cecil Tremblay) all predeceased. Sadly, missed by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. As a young boy Floyd worked in the logging camps around Nipissing where he first met Georgina. From there he moved to Sudbury where he found employment with INCO in the early 50's. He worked in the Smelter as a Puncher for many years and then as a Skimmer, retiring in 1991 after working 41 years. He seldom missed a day's work over his long career. He was dedicated to his job and the company. The family recalls having summer vacations every year while they grew up, visiting family friends in Dansville, NY, Toronto Crystal Beach, and Nipissing visiting Uncle Daniel's Farm. At his request there will be no service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ranger's Cremation and Burial Services Ltd.

    On January 3, 2024, Margaret Mina-Ann Corcoran (nee Young) of Morinville, Alberta passed away at the age of 82 years.
    Mina was born at home on the farm in South Himsworth, Ontario on July 26, 1941. She was the fifth child of 10 of Frederick and Ruth (King) Young.
    She was married to Robert Gerard (Gerry) Corcoran on April 29, 1961 in St. Rose of Lima Church in Scarborough, Ontario. Mina and Gerry lived in Toronto until 1964 and then lived in Pickering, Ontario until 1975. At that time, they moved out west to Alberta. Gerry and Mina enjoyed living on a hobby farm in Gibbons, Alberta. They raised farm animals and horses. Mina loved gardening and had a large vegetable garden on the farm. She had a big heart and always welcomed the many friends and co-workers her husband and children would bring home for a visit and a meal. Mina also worked as a Supervisor at the Redwater IGA. Mina was very active in the Catholic Church. She was a CWL member for many years. She taught catechism and was an active volunteer in many organizations.
    She loved hockey and was an avid fan of the Edmonton Oilers. Besides gardening, she loved cooking, arts and crafts and was known for her many beautiful earrings.
    Mina will be remembered as a loving, caring person with a positive attitude. She was like a mother to many. Throughout her life, she was encouraging, generous and always thought of others rather than herself. She was a living example of Jesus? love and her family and friends were very blessed to have her in their lives.
    She will be lovingly remembered by her children, John, Michael (Annemarie), Paul (Cindy), Diane Kopp (Kevin), Mark (Elisa), grandchildren, Jessie, Kristina, Kyle, Brianne, Robert, Michelle, Gerard, Stuart, Tyler and great grandchildren, Kailey, Jayden and Chloé. She will also be missed by her siblings, Theresa,
    Kalvin (Beverley), Stephen (Gail), Frank (Kathy), Veronica (Mark) and Helen (Paul) and her many nieces and nephews whom she loved greatly.

    Beloved husband of Marilyn Perkins for 56 years. Cherished father of Benjamin Watson (Rhea), and Maxine Watson (Frank). Loving grandfather of Brandon, Sawyer, Alora, Lynona, Hannah, Peyton and Eli.Also as much a father figure to his dear niece, Erlene Wetherby (Howard).
    Dear brother of Thomas (Marilyn), Darlene (David), Karen (Ricardo). Predeceased by his parents, Wesley Watson and Ethel King, and his brother Murray (Gayle). Morley will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
    He was a long time journeyman as a 50-year member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union (UA67), having retired in 2002.
    The family will receive friends and family at Kitching, Steepe and Ludwig Funeral Home located at 146 Mill Street North in Waterdown on Sunday, February 12th from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 13th at 11:00 am. Luncheon to follow. Interment for family only at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

    Passed away peacefully at his home in Blind River in his 74th year on July 14, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Lillian, his son Allan and his daughter Angela (Dan Quenneville), his grandchildren Adam (Jenn), Crystal, Trisha, (Chris), Jennifer, Edouard, Kassandra (Brendon) and Ava, and his great grandchildren Conner, Auston, CJ, Carter, Oliver, Emmett, George and Skyla. He will be missed by his best friend and loyal companion, Cher. He also leaves many brothers and sister in laws and extended family and friends. Stan was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Lillian, his brother Lloyd, his daughters Sheila and Karen and his granddaughter Alicia.
    Stan was an avid outdoorsman who admired and respected nature. A gentle man with an easy going spirit who adored his grand and great grandchildren. Family was most important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them the most. He will be forever missed by those who knew and loved him.
    Cremation has taken place. Burial at Hillside Cemetery in Blind River, Ontario will take place on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11am with a luncheon to follow at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 189.

Reg was raised in Restoule, Ontario, He is the son of the late Carl and Gladys Elliott (nee King). Brother of Ken (Susan), Glen (Glenda) and Ronnie.
    Predeceased by his father Carl, his sister Sharon and granddaughter Mackenzie.
    Reg leaves behind his wife Kellie. His children Tina, April (Jason),
    Blain and Carrie (Gord) and stepchildren Sonya, Lance and Travis.

He was the dear brother of Irene Gelinas (Robert), Maryann Dyment (Brian), Tim King (Olivia) and Debbie Amell and was predeceased by his brother Steven King. He is also survived by three stepbrothers, one stepsister and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home in Powassan (705-724-2024) today, May 11, 2004 from 1 to 3 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Dearly loved brother of Gary Joanisse (Joan), Rocky Joanisse, Davey Joanisse (Donna), Teddy Joanisse (Janet), Randy Joanisse (Monique), Robert Joanisse (Sharon), Richard Joanisse (Denise), Mark Joanisse (Nicky), Barbara Joanisse (Rick), Goldie Joanisse (Gilles), Wanda Belleau (Philip), Lorne King (Pauline) and Kevin King (Monique), Goldie Lamarche (Jacques). Sadly missed by Sylvia and Lemmy King. Donald worked at Inco in Sudbury for over 30 years, retiring to his hometown of Mattawa. He was an avid weight lifter and he loved playing his guitar.
