Mrs. Jacob Price, Sr., of Galbraith, mention of whose sudden death was made last week, was born on Sept. 9th, 1851. Mrs. Price's death was caused by heart failure. She was seemingly in good health until within a few hours of her death. Her maiden name was Esther Munro, and she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Munro of Darling. In 1873 she was married to Mr. Jacob Price, and to them fourteen children were born, two of whom died in infancy, and Hugh A., died in Feb. 1914, and Mrs. Wm. Lyons (Esther) in Aug 1905. Those who are still living are: Mrs. Sandy Rutherford (Margaret Jane), Unity, Sask.; Mrs. Edmond R. Lambe (Elizabeth C.), Shoal Lake, Man.; Mrs. Thomas Fife (Mary), McDonald's Corners, Ont.; Mrs. Milton McKay (Alice L.), Middleville, Ont.; Mrs. Alex Munro (Delilah), Hall's Mills, Ont.; Mrs. Ernest Foster, (Jeanie), Galbraith, Ont.; Messrs: Jacob and Ira Price, Sonningdale, Sask.; Mr. Thomas Price, on the old home at Galbraith; Miss Marion Price at home. Rev. Mr. Currie, Baptist minister, from Lanark, preached, assisted by Rev. Mr. Merrilees. The flowers were a beautiful spray from the family. Mrs. Price was a member of the W.M.S., and was always a faithful attendant when possible, and was always ready to lend a helping hand in any good cause. She will be missed in that as well as in many other ways.

Mrs David Clark
The passing of Mrs David Clark on Wednesday, January 28 will be noted with regret by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances throughout the district. She was in her 78th year. The deceased was Margaret Munro, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Hugh Munro and was born at Hall's Mills, coming to Almonte while quite a young girl. She was married to Mr David Clark and for over 50 years resided in the town of Almonte where, by her kindly disposition and many noble qualities she won for herself a very wide circle of friends. She is survived by her husband, 2 sons and 2 daughters all of whom were present at the funeral on Friday, January 30 to the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Mr Hugh Clark of Cardross, Sask., Mr Bert Clark of the Civil Service, Ottawa, Mrs Charlie Comba, of Toronto, Miss Hattie Clark of Edwards, Ontario together with the husband are left to mourn her loss. She also leaves five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The late Mrs Clark had been in poor health for several years but was only confined to her bed during the last four weeks A life long member of Trinity Church, the funeral which was largely attended, was conducted by Rev A.J. Terrill, who paid tribute to the long and useful life of the departed. The pallbearers were her two sons, Hugh and Bert Clark; Mr Robert Kearney, a nephew; Robert Munro, a brother; Mr C Comba, a son-in-law and Mr Allan Comba, a grandson. Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mr Hugh Clark of Cardross, Sask.; Mr Bert Clark of Ottawa; Miss Hattie Clark of Edwards; Mrs A.W. Robert D. Munro
Entered into rest at the Almonte Hospital on Friday, January 19th, 1973, in his 84th year, Robert D. Munro, husband of the late Margaret Yuill, who predeceased him September 11th, 1961. Born in Lanark Township, August 20th, 1889, he was the last member of an old and well known family, son of the late Daniel Munro and his wife Betsy Rintoul. On June 12th, 1912, he and his wife were married at Hall's Mills and settled on the homestead where he was born and brought up, where they lived for over forty years. Sixteen years ago he moved to Clayton Village, where he spent the remainder of his lifetime. Deceased was a member of Clayton United Church. Surviving to morn the loss of a dear father and grandfather are, one son, Arthur of Clayton, and two daughters, Addle (Mrs. Matt Somerville), Middleville and Margaret (Mrs. George S. Affleck), Clayton. There are also five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Deceased members of his family are five brothers, Hugh, John, William, David and Charles and two sisters, Kate (Mrs. James Stewart) and Maggie (Mrs. Arch. McNeil). The funeral was held on Monday, January 22nd, at 2 o'clock from the Kerry Funeral Home, Almonte. Service was conducted by Rev. Gordon C. Smyth of the Central Lanark Parish. Pallbearers were four nephews and two grandsons; George Stewart, Leonard Munro, Ronald Yuill, Donald Munro, Frank Somerville and Wayne Affleck. Many beautiful floral tributes and "In Memoriam" cards were received. Interment Clayton United Cemetery vault, with burial in the spring.

He was married Jan. 29, 1919 to Jean Yuill and have resided ever since on their farm in Darling Township. He was a life long member of Guthrie United Church and was active in all church work. The many floral and memorial offerings testified the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Mr. Munro Is survived by his wife the former Jean Yuill and one son Donald and a daughter (Della) Mrs. Thomas Ireton of Ferguson's Falls and three grandchildren, Charles Munro, and Brenda and Lillian Ireton. Also surviving are two brothers, John A. Munro of Lanark, Robt. D. Munro of Clayton and a sister, Mrs. Archie McNeil of Regina, Sask. Funeral services were held from the Kerry Funeral H ome on Tuesday, Nov. 27. The Rev. Robert Clarke conducting the funeral services. Alex Rutherford & Margaret Jane (Price) Rutherford: 1931

Lanark County friends were shocked to hear of the sudden deaths within an interval of one week of Mr and Mrs. Alex Rutherford of Unity Sask. Mrs. Rutherford died in the hospital at Unity on May 20, after a brief illness of pneumonia. Her husband followed her to the grave one week later as a result of a heart attack. Both Mr. and Mrs. Rutherford were natives of Lanark County, Mr. Rutherford having been born hear Elphin, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rutherford of that place and she having been born in Darling, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Price. Before her marriage she was Margaret Jane Price, and at the time of her death she was aged 54 years and nine months. The Rutherfords went West 22, years ago and farmed in the Adanac district and later took a homestead in the Sunnyglen district where they continued to reside except for the few years they lived in Unity. They were predeceased by a son 11 years ago. Mrs. Rutherford is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Jacob and Ira Price of Sonningdale, Sask.; Thomas, Mrs. Milton McKay and Mrs. Ernest Foster of Galbraith; Mrs Alex Munro of Almonte; Mrs. Stewart Gunn, Winchester; Mrs. Thomas Fife, McDonald's Corners and Mrs. E. R. Lambe of Winnipeg. Mr. Rutherford died on May 27 at the age of 62 years, he leaves a brother, William, of Streamstown, Alta. and two sisters, Mrs. V. J. Munro, Boyds Settlement and Mr. J. Furnier, Snow Road. Mr. and Mrs. Rutherford were members of the United Church. Interment was made in the West.

A happy event took place at the home of Mr. Jacob Price's on Wednesday at three o'clock p.m., when his daughter Mary (Price), was married to Mr. Thomas Fife, of McDonald's Corners. Rev. F. Miller performed the ceremony in the presence of about forty guests. The couple were ably assisted by the bride's sister, Marion, who wore a pretty dress of white muslin trimmed with valentine lace and insertion and Mr. Roy McDonald, nephew of the groom. The bride wore a handsome dress of cream eolinine trimmed with allover lace and silk insertion. Mr. and Mrs. Fife left next day for their farm home at McDonald's Corners, the bride travelling in a gown of grey cloth with allover lace waist over white silk.

The death of Mrs Elizabeth Comba, wife of Charles C. Comba, occurred at the Bethesda Hospital, Toronto, Thursday, December 5th after an illness of over a year. Mrs Comba, daughter of the late Margaret Munro and David Clark, was born in Almonte and received her education here. After her marriage to Charles Comba they lived in Almonte until 1921, when they moved to Toronto where they reside until her death. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Almonte and took an active part in church work. In Toronto, she was a member of St Clair Avenue United Church and of the Women's Association. She was an active member of the Well's Hill Lawn Bowling Club until her recent sickness. Mrs Comba leaves, besides her husband a daughter, Gladys, Mrs A.W. Dunkley, and a son, Allan, both of Toronto. Her other son, Keith, of Stratford, Ont, predeceased her by six months. She also leaves a sister, Hattie Clark of Almonte, and three grandchildren. A funeral service was held in Toronto on Saturday, December 7 after which the remains were brought to Almonte to the Comba Funeral Home, where a service was held on Monday, Dec 9th. Bertram Clarke
Suffering a heart attack in Ottawa Monday afternoon, about 4 o'clock, Bertram Clarke, 53-year-old civil servant of 425 Somerset street west, Ottawa, collapsed on the street and died instantly before medical aid could arrive. Mr Clarke, veteran of the First Great War, had been in ill-health for some time and for the past week had not been to work under orders of his physician, Dr M.D. Graham, of the Department of Pensions and National Health. Mr Clarke had resided in Ottawa for the past 23 years and during that time had been employed in the personnel branch of the Department of Transport.
Born in Maine, U.S., he was the son of the late Mr and Mrs David Clarke, and came to Canada 51 years ago. The family settled at Almonte. There, 32 years ago, he married Pearl Illingworth, who survives. Mr Clarke attended the United Church. During the First Great War, Mr Clarke served with the 73rd Regiment from 1914 until 1918.
Besides his widow, he is survived by three daughters: (Jean) Mrs Dan Larocque, Almonte; the Misses Florence and Joan Clarke, Ottawa; a brother, Hugh Clarke, Moose Jaw and two sisters, Mrs Charles Comba of Toronto, and Miss Hattie Clarke, Almonte. The remains were brought to Almonte Tuesday morning and rested at the home of Mr Harry Houston until the funeral Thursday afternoon. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Rev W.J. Scott of Bethany United Church officiated at the services. The pallbearers were three former members of deceased's 73rd Regiment, comrades in the last war, Messrs O.L. James, Jack Joss and Wallace Honeyborne; and W.A. Jamieson, Hal Kirkland and E.J. Lee. Included in the floral tributes were wreaths from Dept of Transport, and Percy St. School, Ottawa an the Almonte Branch of the Canadian Legion.

MRS. DAVID FULTON
The death occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 17th of Mrs. David Fulton of Clayton district, following a long illness. She was formerly Katie Kearney, a daughter of the late Catharine Munro and Stephen Kearney. She was in her 76th year. She was well known and highly respected. She had spent her young life here. In 1916 she married David Fulton and they settled on a farm at Admaston in 1932. They went to Cedar Hill and in 1951 moved to Clayton. Mrs. Fulton was a valued member of the Methodist Church and a regular attendant. She was a very fine person, kind and thoughtful and always willing to help when needed. The funeral was held on, Friday afternoon, Feb. 19th from the Comba Funeral Home in Almonte, to the United Church in Clayton. Rev. J. R. Anderson assisted at the funeral home and her pastor, Rev. Robert Brawn conducted the service in the church. There were beautiful floral tributes which testified to the high esteem in which Mrs. Fulton was held. She is survived by, her husband, Mr. David Fulton who is a patient in the R. M. Hospital, Almonte, and one son James R. Fulton of Clayton. Her only brother, Mr. Robert Kearney died, nine years ago. The pallbearers were Messrs. Larry Command, Nathan Virgin, John G. Rintoul, Archie Barr, Carl Fulton of Clayton and James A. Fulton of Cedar Hill. Service in St. George's Church on Sunday, Feb. 28 will be held in the evening at 7.30. There will also be service in St. George's Church on Ash Wednesday, March 2nd at 10.30.

Well known and a much loved member of the community, Florence (Munro) Watt, Fairview Manor, Almonte, died suddenly Feb 12, 1981 at Almonte General Hospital. She was 77 years old. The daughter of the late Robert and Ida Munro, Mrs. Watt was born May 14, 1903 in Darling Township. She attended Halls Mills School. She was the wife of the late James H. Watt of Lanark Township. They were married at her parents home in Darling Township by Rev. Duncan McColl on September 20, 1921. Dearly loved mother of Erwin of Almonte, Hazel (Mrs. Len Fulton) Pakenham, Russell of Ottawa, Valma (Mrs. Howard Bolger) of Clayton, Jean (Mrs. Logan More), Wilmer and Gladys (Mrs. Carl Currie) all of Almonte and Len of Pakenham. Also survived by 24 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Dear sister of Mrs. Cora Yuill of RR 2 Almonte, Mrs. Eva Fulton of Renfrew, Wilbert of Clayton, predeceased by one brother Earl of Almonte. She rested at the Gamble & Comba Funeral Home, 127 Church Street, Almonte where the funeral service was held on Saturday Feb 14 at 2 p.m. Services were conducted by John Richards and George Poole. Interment Clayton United Cemetery. The pallbearers were six grandsons, John Fulton, Brian Bolger, Brent Watt, Garry Watt, Allan Watt, and Steve Currie. Florence's deep religious faith was a great inspiration to all who knew her. Cora Yuill made friends all over the world without leaving Lanark County. A prolific writer who at one time kept in contact with close to 100 pen pals, she enjoyed giving of herself while expecting nothing in return. It's this warm and generous spirit friends and family now recall. Cora died peacefully at Almonte General Hospital with her family present Oct. 18, 1995. She was 90. Born Aug. 17, 1905, at Halls Mills, Ont., Cora was the daughter of the late Robert Munro and his wife the late Ida Watchhorn. She attended Halls Mills Public School and then went to write her entrance exams in Lanark Village in 1920. On Nov. 18, 1931, she married the late Arthur Yuill. They farmed for many years in Darling Township before they moved with their family to Ramsay Township in 1947. It was during the early 1940s that Cora began reaching out to others through letter?writing. A "friendship book" she sent to a friend made its way to Nova Scotia, initiating her first pen pal. An advertisement placed in the old Winnipeg Free Press sparked another 36 pen pals in 1948. From there, her hobby blossomed as more and more people contacted her. Until the early 1980s, she'd built up long-distance relationships with more than 100 people, most of them in North America but many in England, Ireland and even Australia. Mary Cook. Cora also loved writing poetry. Her works were featured regularly in Gazette. She also had her favourites placed in booklets which she as she generously offered to friends. She often used her talent to look back with fondness on her life ? her childhood, time spent at school in the one-room school house, growing up with her brothers and sisters, raising her own family. These were what she often referred to as "the best old days." One person who knows Cora's warm heart is Stephen Cotnam. He befriended her several years ago while visiting her brother-in-law on a church outreach program. Over the years, he said, they developed a friendship which just grew stronger. "She was a peaceful lady, a lady full of grace," he said. She realized her dream of traveling "through her writing. I think that gave her some distant connections." Cotnam said Cora was always generous with her time. ?I found I enjoyed the visits as much did, maybe more," he said. During his eulogy, he referred to three of her poems. The third entitled "End of Summer" ends with the lines: We must make the best of the life we've been given And maybe some day we'll have a place up in Heaven. ?I had felt, in a sense, she'd been able to bring a little Heaven on earth," Cotnam said. Cora was a devoted mother and loving friend. She was a member of the United Church in Clayton where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. Her last five years were spent in Fairview Manor after moving out of her log home on the Old Perth Road. Her daughter Dorothy Legree said she "truly enjoyed" singing in the choir and enjoyed many a happy day at the manor. Cora is survived by her five daughters Dorothy (Randolph Legree), Blanche (late Lawrence Desjardins), Alma (late Stuart Malloch), Eilleen (Dan Boothby) and Della (James Graham). She is also survived by her brother, Wilbert (Florence) of Clayton, Ont., sister?in?law Olive, 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters Eva Fulton and Florence Watt and by her brother Earl Munro.The funeral took place Oct. 21 in the chapel of Alan Barker Funeral, Home, McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, at 2 p.m. Rev. Eilleen Heppwhite officiated. Honourary pallbearers were Dave Cleary, Donald Miller, Eldon Munro, Delmer Munro, Bernard Fulton, and Logan More. CAMERON, Hazel (nee Munro) Hazel passed away in the Perth hospital on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased in 2006 by her beloved husband William ""Bill"" Cameron, her grandson Greg Burke in 2019 and all her siblings. Hazel was the loved and respected mother of Brian (Lynn) Cameron and Cherylanne (Russ) Burke. ELLA V. HAGMAN (nee LAMB) Peacefully on Sunday, April 15, 2001 at the Central Park Lodge in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 88 years - 10 days before her 89th birthday (April 25). Survived by her children, son Earl and daughter Sharon, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; son Earl (Patricia) their four children, Jeff, Dean, Erik and Brett and their life partners, Lori and Eugene; daughter Sharon and her life partner Jean, their two children Mark (Charmaine) from Alberta and Kim Allison (Wes) from Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, Zachari, Alex, and Taylor. Auntie Ella will be fondly missed by Wilmet, Alecia, Doreen, and longtime friends and family too numerous to mention. Ella V. had many accomplishments in this lifetime on earth. She was a graduate of the Toronto Conservatory of Music, and loved to play music for all the sing-alongs with family and friends. She and her husband Ernie built and created Hagmans Handy Hardware store in St. Vital - Ella V. with her administrative side and Ernie using his unique salesmanship. In their home in St. Vital, Ella V. and Ernie spent many mornings admiring the multitude of birds that they so both loved to watch, chronolog and nurture in their back yard. Ella V. devoted her energy to volunteer with EMO, March of Dimes and the Red Cross. She also volunteered her time at the local community club organizations in the 50s and 60s. Family and friends will always remember the wonderful times at the Winnipeg Beach cottage, with the good laughs and fun horseshoe games. When Ella V. and Ernie retired in the late 60s they moved to the country in Oakbank, Manitoba. There they created a new beginning for themselves with building a home, landscaping and gardening. And of course their bird watching. One of Ella Vs hobbies was to write and compile humourous sayings of famous and the not so famous (anon.). She went on to create her "BinSaid" books, a collection of six in all, covering subject matter on life, love, laughter, et al. Ella V. became very interested in Astrology in her mid fifties and as many family and friends know she became quite proficient at that particular hobby. It became a passion for her to help others and she was always eager to create astrological information for those who requested (and some who did not). The family would like to say a deep thank you to her care givers on the 5th floor at Central Park Lodge, for making Ella V. so comfortable and well looked after as her years progressed. passed on peacefully at the Green Home, Monday, February 19, 2007. Gilbert was born on the farm at Sonningdale, Saskatchewan July 2, 1921. He married Esther Baker in 1945 and they moved to B. C. in 1948. Gilbert worked for the C.M.& S., had Price Excavating with his brother, Nelson. He also had the Kimberley Tire Shop. As the owner of Keynote Builders, he moved to Cranbrook in 1964 to build houses. He was also a carpenter with Crestbrook and the Carpenter’s Union. Gilbert was a Traveling Elder with Global Missions. It was his greatest passion to do the work of the Lord. He was a “good and faithful servant” all his life. Gilbert loved his family and friends. He helped most everyone at one time or another in his lifetime. He loved to build something out of nothing. His talent was extraordinary. He loved to entertain everyone with his violin, guitar or singing. He made many tapes of spiritual music for anyone who enjoyed it. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.

Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 7, 1924, daughter of William J. and Catherine McQuatt Goddard, she was a 1941 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1942 graduate of Berkshire Business College.
Mrs. LaBrode was employed by the House of Mercy and Pittsfield General Hospital at various times from the 1940s through 1960s. From 1970 until 1985, she was employed by Berkshire Medical Center in the medical library.
She was a member of First Church of Christ Congregational. She enjoyed reading and was presented a plaque by the Berkshire Athenaeum in 1995 for borrowing the most books. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and knitting.
She leaves her husband, Robert D. LaBrode, whom she married May 17, 1947; three sons, Robert D. LaBrode of Savoy, Peter J. LaBrode of Fort Worth, Texas, and David P. LaBrode of Haverhill; a sister, Gladys King of Pittsfield; three grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, with the Rev. Dr. Richard F. Floyd, pastor of First Church of Christ, Congregational, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. MALLOCH, Alma Peacefully at home on "The Farm" she loved, Alma (Yuill) Malloch passed away on June 13th, 2003. She is now reunited with her much missed and much loved, Stewart. Left to miss her are her children Glenda and Jim Mahoney, Barb and Bruce Nairn, Deb and Steve Caluori and Don and Shelly Malloch; she was the fun loving and wonderful Nana and Great Alma to Tami, Blake, Shantal, Kerri, Terra, Jeremy, Jessica, Shane, Mandy, Cody and Emilie and proud great-grandmother of Courtney. Alma will be greatly missed by her sisters Dorothy (Randolph) Legree, Blanche (late Lawrence) Desjardins, Eileen (Dan) Boothby, Della (Jim) Graham and her sister-in-law Kaye Spencer; also loved and missed by her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and countless wonderful friends. Auntie Alma to everyone, her gentle loving nature, sense of humour and incredible strength of character will be missed forever and ever and always. Dear mother of Dale (Shelly) Boothby and Cindy (Ben) Tubman. Loving grandmother of Danny (Tara), John (Amanda), Benji, Alex (Derrick), Emma, Karlie and the late Sara. Great- grandmother of Rya, Robert, Elsa, Andrew, Steven, Isabella and Paisley. Mother-in-law to Kelley. Sister of Dorothy Legree and the late Blanche Desjardins, Alma Malloch and Della Graham.
