    Oct. 7, 1891: Hebron to Salem. Walter Banning, his wife Rosa & 4 children (Frederick, ae 8; Florence, ae 5; Frank, ae 3; B. Mary, ae 1 year 5 months) are on expense. Mrs. Banning was taken to Hartford hospital yesterday.
    Oct. 8, 1891: Salem to Hebron. Walter Banning is not an inhabitant of Salem; I think he belongs to Chatham or somewhere in that vicinity.

    The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Trainor funeral home, Boonville, with Rev. Irving F. Beal, pastor of Forestport Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairchild cemetery, Remsen.
    Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Dorothy)Leabo, Malone; four step-daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Frances) La Rocque,Clark Mills, Mrs. Henry (Myra) Szyikowski, Boonville, Mrs. Doyle (Ruth)Jones, Lakewood, Calif., Mrs. Martin (Catherine) Mooney, Boonville; two stepsons, Clarence F. Worden, Holland Patent and Harold Worden, Utica; three brothers, Orin Banning, Fitchville, Conn., Raymond Banning, Massachusetts and Louis Banning, Norwichtown, Con.; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Duffy, Hampton, Conn., and Mrs. Dorothy Hildebrand, Norwichtown, Conn., and several grandchildren.
    She was born July 30, 1906 in Groton, Conn., a daughter of Orin and Martha Champlin Banning. She lived in Forestport 37 years. She was married to Mr. Worden Sept. 29, 1937 in Barneveld. She was a member of the Forestport Presbyterian church and Riverside Rebekah lodge of which she was a past grand. She was also its past district deputy.

She was born in New London on December 27, 1908, daughter of the late Martha Melissa Champlin and Orrin H. Banning. She lived most her life in Norwich. Mrs. Hildebrand worked as a Braider Tender for the Turner and Stanton Co. for 18 years before retiring in 1940. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Norwich and an avid bowler in St. Marks Senior Bowling League. Mrs. Hildebrand married the late Bernard V. Hildebrand on November 19, 1938. She is survived by her sister Ruth Duffy of Noank, and several nieces and nephews.     She was born August 15, 1926 in Stafford Springs, CT; the daughter of Frank W. and Nellie (Marsdale) Banning. She was raised in Stafford, CT until the age of sixteen when she was accepted into the home of William & Elise Hernberg. They took care of her, gave her working skills in the office of their oil company, and sponsored her wedding to Walter Franklin Mather, Jr. She had also worked at the post office. She attended educational classes at the State Home in Stafford, CT. Marcia lived in Willington, CT and Hartland, VT before moving to South Royalton. She had been the office manager for Vermont Log Buildings. She was an active member of the Eastern Star while in CT, and a member of the Willington, CT Congregational Church before moving to Vermont. She attended church in Hartland for many years, then Green Mountain Gospel Chapel in Randolph after moving to South Royalton. She loved quilting, gardening, yard sales and thrift store shopping. She loved to bake for bake sales and church suppers, and learned to make Grandma Mather?s raisin filled cookies which she would send to us kids and our families. She enjoyed watching Red Socks baseball, old classic movies (especially Westerns), music, and especially church music which she listened to while falling asleep. Most friends remember Marcia for her joyful humming of music wherever she went.
    Survivors include her sons, Walter Mather of Bradford, VT and James Mather of Randolph Center, VT; daughters Pamela Mather of Long Beach, CA, Heidi Mather of Barnard, VT and Terry Mather of South Royalton, VT; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband in 1960.
    Memorial Services will be held at 5:00pm Friday, May 19th at Green Mountain Gospel Chapel in Randolph. Burial will be in Willington, CT. Online condolences may be left at www.dayfunerals.com.     Born in Rome, NY., on July 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late George and Viola Banning Trego. She was a 1948 graduate of Forest Port New York High School.
    On December 30, 1953, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Leabo, Sr. He predeceased her in March of 1983.
    Dorothy was employed as a teachers aide at St. Joseph?s Academy, in Malone. She was also a cook and housekeeper for the clergy at St. John Bosco Church, in Malone. She later worked for Com-Links and the Co-operative Extension in Malone. She retired several years ago. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, and was an avid New York Yankee fan.
    Survivors include two sons and a daughter in law, Frederick and Hilda Leabo of Malone, NY., and Mark Leabo of Erie, IL., and by four daughters, Rhonda DeBruhl of Davie, FL., Brenda Leabo of Malone, NY., Pamela Leabo of Schenectady, NY., and Angela Leabo of Malone, NY. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
    Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by two sons, Raymond Leabo in 1983 and Kenneth Leabo, Jr., in 2011, and by a grandson, Nicholas Leabo in 2012.
    Calling hours will be on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, in Malone. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Billy Bond officiating. Burial will take place in the Fairchild Cemetery in Remsen, NY., on Friday at 12 p.m.

Fran worked at Wesleyan University, Music Department, as an administrative assistant for 21 years from 1964 to 1985. In her younger years, she was a member of the Portland and Middletown Bowling Leagues, a communicant of St. Mary's Church and member of their Altar Society, a Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary (1954), a 65+year member of both the Auxiliary and Hemlock Grange and a charter member of the Portland Historical Society. She is survived by her three children - son, McClure E. (Linda) Ellsworth of San Antonio TX; daughters, Deborah A. of Framingham MA and Portland and Sarah E. (Gary) Perruccio of Meriden; proud grandmother of Marissa E. (Ted) Schaeffer of San Antonio and Matthew and Mallory Perruccio of Meriden; proud great-grandmother of Hannah, Gio, Eli, Teddy Jr. and Nicole. She also leaves her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth P.     Doris E. Shaw October 7, 1924 - August 9, 2011 Norwich - Doris E. (Banning) Shaw, 86, wife of the late Arthur L. Shaw Sr., died Tuesday afternoon at her home. Born in East Hartford on October 7, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Clarance and Ethel (Denler) Banning. On May 6, 1942, in Harrisburg, PA she was united in marriage to Arthur L. Shaw, Sr., who died on November 11, 1995. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a Personal Care Aide at the Eliza Huntingtion Home. Mrs. Shaw was also a devoted foster mother to numerous children. Surviving are three sons, William Shaw and his wife Bev of Oakdale, Ronald Shaw and his wife Beth of Jacksonville, FL, and Arthur L.Shaw, Jr. and his wife Pat of Plainfield; two daughters Theresa Fields and her husband David of Norwich and Norene Twerdy and her husband Dean of Putnam, a brother Ronald Banning of Vernon and a sister Phyllis Holzman of New Britain; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and newphews. She was predeceased by a daughter Gloria Ross, son in law Harold "Skip" Ross, Sr. and a grandson Harold "Skippy" Ross, Jr. Visitation Friday 6 to 8 P.M. at the Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday August 20, 2011 at the home of her son and daughter in law William and Bev Shaw, 113 Forsyth Rd., Oakdale at 2 P.M.     Phyllis Marie "Nippy" (Banning) Holzman, 86 of Burlington, CT passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 with her family by her side at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, CT. She was a loving, kind and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a person who enjoyed her life. Born in Hartford, CT on January 8, 1929 to the late Clarence and Ethel (Dennler) Banning and sister, Doris (Banning) Shaw of Norwich, CT. She leaves behind a brother, Ronald Banning of Vernon, CT and sister-in-law Frances and many nieces and nephews and extended family in the Norwich area. She grew up and attended the local schools in the Glastonbury /Colchester area. She is predeceased by her husband William Carl "Red" Holzman. They married on September 27, 1952 and resided in New Britain, CT where they began their life together and raised their four children William Jr., Wayne, Valerie and Carol. Phyllis worked and retired from Fafnir Bearings in New Britain after 38 years in 1991. After retiring, she moved to Burlington, CT where she lived for over 20 years with her daughter Valerie and son-in-law Ziggy. While living in Burlington, she enjoyed working alongside her daughter at her home daycare where she touched so many of the children's lives and was known to all of them as "Grandma." She enjoyed the warm weather, sitting in the sun on the deck with their dogs, Abbey and Cooper, and taking her daily walks. She looked forward to her Saturday routine of getting her hair done, shopping and having lunch with her daughter Carol. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by everyone who came to know and love her. Phyllis is survived by two sons William Carl Holzman Jr. and his wife Sandra of East Berlin, and Wayne Allen Holzman and his wife Suzanne Onorato of Simsbury; two daughters, Valerie Spiewak (Holzman) and her husband Ziggy of Burlington, and Carol Holzman of New Britain; six grandchildren, Joseph Grecki and his wife Christine, Erin (Spiewak) Mazzone and her husband Brian, Samantha (Holzman) Boguslawski and her husband Anthony, Katlynn Holzman, William Wayne Holzman and Bennett Francis Holzman; and two great grandchildren, Sophie Elizabeth Mazzone and Case James Grecki. Friends and family are welcome to attend a memorial service in her memory on Saturday January 9, 2016 from 2-4 pm at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue in New Britain.

Norma is survived by her sister, Alice Price, her daughter, Shirley A. Tetreault and her husband, Albert, son, Gilbert V. Cilley Jr. and his wife, Melissa, her grandsons, MSgt Allen J. Tetreault and his wife Laura, Kenneth J. Tetreault and his wife, Brandi, Gilbert V. Cilley III, Kenneth R. Cilley and his wife, Carrie, Chris Walton and Justin Haynes. Granddaughters are Stacia and Drea Cilley. Her "greats" are Kellen, Brooke, Katie, Amy, Jennifer Tetreault and Jordan Cilley.
    Norma graduated early from "The School of Hard Knocks" and had a Masters Degree from the University of Loving, Caring, and Sharing. Norma devoted her entire life to caring for someone, sharing her time and making sure you knew how much she loved you. Most of the time it may have just been a special phone call from her to you. When raising her two children, she made sure that every day after school there was either a fresh baked lemon meringue pie or a hot loaf of bread sitting on the counter. Norma enjoyed being a member of Uptown Garden club and making cupcakes with her grandchildren. Norma loved to lick the spoon. A wonderful, caring, sharing, nurturing mama/grandma went home today but she will live in our hearts forever.
    A celebration of her life will take place on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 11515 Lomas NE, by Pastor Chris Heller. Norma will be interred in the National Cemetery, with her husband, in Santa Fe at 2:15 p.m.

    Mr. James L. Derry, age 68, of Milton, passed away Monday, March 27, 2006 at his home. He was born October 7, 1937 in New London, Connecticut and had been a longtime resident of this area. He graduated in 1955 and joined the United States Navy. In 1970 he joined the Blue Angels as a ground crew #3, where he stayed until 1975. When he retired after 20 years active duty and 10 years reserve. After his retiring he woked through several contracts at Whiting Field as a supervisor for 24 years.
    His parents Charles and Eliza Derry, wife of 47 years Euna Derry, and two brothers, Nelson and Charles Derry, Jr. preceded him in death.
    Survivors include his four children, Tony (Sandra) Derry, Kathy (Harry) Barlow, Susie (Jimmy) Littlejohn, Shannon (Harold) Derry, three sisters, Ida (Al) Rogulski, Alice (Tom) Price, Norma (Gil) Cilley, five grandchildren, Terry Barlow, Stephen Derry, Kathrine Barlow (Kelly), Christopher Brock, Kristine Derry, three great grandchildren, Jonathan Lee Barlow, Brianna Derry, and Brittaney Derry.

    James married Euna Yvonne Odom in Jan 1957 in Escambia County, Florida, USA. Euna was born on 20 Jul 1939 in Pensacola, Florida, USA; died on 22 May 2004; was buried in Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
