    OCOEE, FL. - Everett C. Stevens, 96, of 80 North Clarke Road and formerly of Elm Street in Leetonia died at 1:40 a.m. Saturday at Summerville at Ocoee following a long illness.
    Mr. Stevens was born May 25, 1908 in Suffield, CT, a son of Herbert B. and Helen M. Cordes Stevens and had lived in the Ocoee-Winter Garden area for several years. He had also lived in Leetonia.
    He had been employed as a toolmaker for Tippett Inc. in Chicopee, MA.
    His first wife, Anne Sheckler Stevens, died September 30, 1981.
    He is survived by his wife Coral Call Edgar Stevens, whom he married May 4, 1985; a sister, Helen Brennan of East Long Meadow, MA; sister-in-laws, Lillian Stevens of Suffield, CN, Mary Call of Defiance and Mrs. Wallace (Nedra Jean) Rettig of Leetonia; several nieces and nephews, including Gail Demastus of Ocoee, FL; three stepgrandchildren and seven stepgreatgrandchildren.
    A sister Ethel A. Bracewell and a brother Howard Stevens are also deceased.
    Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday at the Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home, Ocoee, FL with Pastor Walter Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorium in Gotha, FL. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10-12 noon on Tuesday.
    Funeral arrangements were made by the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, Ohio.

He was the owner and president of Stevens Millwork Co. of Somers. He worked previously at White Westinghouse Corp. During World War II, he was a foreman at the Springfield Armory, and later worked for the Federal Reconstruction Finance Corporation. While living in Florida in 1967-69, he owner Bressler's 33 Flavors Ice Cream Store. Born in Suffield, he lived in Somers before moving here. He was a charter member and treasurer of the Somers Lions Club, first president and charter member of the Somers Chamber of Commerce, first president of the Somers Little League, an original driver and charter member of the Somers Fire Dept. Ambulance Service, and a past treasurer of the Salvation Army Chapter there. He leaves his wife, the former Lillian Rinaldi; a daughter, Diane Stevens of Enfield; a brother, Everett of Winter Garden, Fla., and a sister, Helen Brennan of East Longmeadow, Mass. The funeral will be Friday morning in Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels and St. Martha's Church, with burial in Somers Center Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be this afternoon and evening.

Helen was the beloved wife of the late Paul E. Brennan, Sr., who passed away in 1979. She was a sales assistant, for over 25 years, at the former Steiger's Department Store in the Eastfield Mall in Springfield. Helen is survived by her 3 children, Carol S. Miner of Newtown, CT, Paul E. Brennan, Jr., of Sparta, TN, and Joanne Brennan of Springfield; her 7 grandchildren, Lori Wadman, Michael Hurst, Susan Miner, Paul Brennan, III, Thomas Hurst, Kirstin Joyce, and Edward Miner; 7 great grandchildren, Kathryn, Brian, Joseph, Emily, Abigail, Samuel, and Kalli; and 1 great-great grandson, Owen. Helen's funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 5, at 11:30 a.m. in Byron Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St., Springfield. Burial will be at a later date in Springfield Street Cemetery in Agawam. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc.

Smith Jr. in 1972 and her daughter Suzanne Safarik in 2017. She leaves her daughter Paula A. Remington and her husband Ward of West Springfield, two sisters Vivian Roberts of Agawam and June Kennedy of Wilbraham, five grandchildren Deborah Hinks (Timothy), Doreen Pedro (Stephen), Donald Welch (Dorothy), Denise Pellitier (Timothy) and Dawn Platanitis (George) and 11 great grandchildren Alexander, Austin, Michael, Edward, Amanda, Avery, Logan, Mya, Timothy, Ryan and Devon. The funeral will be Wednesday from West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home at 9:00 am followed by services at the Agawam Baptist Church at 10:00 am. Burial in Springfield Street Cemetery.     Mrs. Case had been 5th Grade School teacher at the Goodwin School in East Hartford prior to her retirement.
    Elaine was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester and served as President of the East Hartford Teachers Association. She had been active in the Girl Scouts and the 4H Club. She also loved to travel and go camping with her husband.
    Mrs. Case is survived by her son Charles Edson Case Jr. of Grovetown, GA, two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Charles Davis of Fairfax Station, VA, and Marilyn and Robert Baseler of Ledyard; six grandchildren, Wendy Warnock Healey, Andrew David Warnock, Anne M. Baseler, Richard Edson Baseler, Jeanne Baseler Connolly, and Charles Edson Case III; six great-grandchildren, Daniel, Fallon, and Jack Connolly; Emily and Sarah Baseler; and Alexander Warnock. She was predeceased by a son, David Nelson Case.
    Graveside Services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Westminster Section of the East Cemetery.

Her artistic talent of ceramics was seen through her businesses in Wilbraham (Classy Ladies Ceramics) South Hadley and Bondsville (Sue and Bill's Ceramics). Sue was very crafty and enjoyed arts and crafts, playing Bingo, gambling, and her permanent camp at Forest Lake in New Hampshire. For over 30 years, the time spent there was treasured.
    Sue will be dearly missed by her husband of 26 years, William H. Safarik, along with her children, Denise M. Pelletier and her husband Timothy S. and Dawn S. Platanitis and her husband George E. all of Wilbraham. She also leaves her grandchildren, Timothy D. and his wife Samantha Pelletier of Agawam, Ryan R. and Devon S. Pelletier, Michael G. and Edward E. Plantanitis all of Wilbraham. Her sister, Paula A. and her husband Ward A. Remington of West Springfield, step son Scott Safarik of Boca Raton, FL and several nieces and nephews will also miss Sue. Besides her father, she was predeceased by her brother Edward A. Smith, Jr.
    Visitation will be Saturday October 14th from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home with a service to begin at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Palmer Senior Center.

    Charles Edson Case II died peacefully at his Grovetown home while having his morning coffee on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, his 69th birthday. Charlie was born to Elaine and Charles E. Case I in Manchester, CT, in 1945, where he spent his childhood. His childhood was distinguished as he was named an Eagle Scout. Charlie is survived by his cherished son, Charles E. Case III of Brooklyn, NY, his daughter-in-law, Mary, and his first grandchild, a girl expected in March whom he anticipated with much excitement. He is also survived by sisters Marilyn Baseler of Ledyard, CT, and Beverly Davis of Fairfax Square, VA, and by their children Jeanne, Anne, Richard, Andrew, and Wendy, and their children. In addition, Charlie is survived by a goddaughter Ellen Plass and long-time companion Danna Edwards, her daughters Brandy and Sherry, and their children Michael, Sarah, Kaitlyn, and Adilynn whom he thought of as his own. He is preceded in death by his brother David Nelson Case and his parents. Charlie was a life-long and devoted educator. He taught public school in East Hartford, Connecticut, and Brooklyn, New York, from 1968 until 1975 when he began his Ph.D. training in Sociology at the University of Arizona. After earning his Ph.D. in 1983, he continued teaching at the University of Arizona until 1984. For the next six years, Charlie taught at the University of California, Riverside, before moving to Augusta in 1990. He was a sociology professor at Augusta College and then Augusta State University in the Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Social Work for 19 years before his retirement. Throughout his long career, Charlie was known as a staunch advocate for the equality of all persons-he held no quarter for racism or sexism. Dr. Case was Associate Professor Emeritus of Georgia Regents University at the time of his death. Charlie's other loves, besides teaching, included cooking and gardening-two endeavors in which he excelled. As an avid gardener he was an active member of the Seed Savers Exchange specializing in the preservation of exotic and heirloom tomatoes. His final wish is to be at rest among his tomato plants, a gesture by which his family and many friends will lovingly remember him. Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or, in remembrance of Charlie's love for dogs, the CSRA Humane Society, 425 Wood St., Augusta, GA 30904. Family and friends will celebrate his life with a memorial service at the Lake Olmstead Gazebo in Augusta, GA, at 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2014.
