GROTON - Mrs. Adelaide (Addie) Phelps Post, 79, of 406 Poquonnock Road died today at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where she had been admitted July 11. She had been in failing health more than a year.
A native of Groton, she was born March 11, 1891, the daughter of Linhart and Alfreda Phelps.
She was the widow of Ernest Post, who died in 1947. She was previously married to the late Joseph Pieretti.
Mrs. Post was a hand presser and professional spotter for the former Troy Laundry in Norwich and then Shalett Drycleaners in New London. She had retired.
She was a member of the Gold Star Mothers, John Coleman Prince Post Auxiliary, American Legion, and the Groton Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Melvin Perlotti, by a previous marriage, of Denver, Colo., Joseph Pieretti of Norwich Town and Ernest Pieretti of Groton; seven daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Holiday of Warwick, R.I., Mrs. Ruth Moreash of Mystic, Mrs. Margaret Bennett of Columbus, Ga., Mrs. Edith Long of Eldorado, Kans., Mrs. Judy LePage of Santa Anna, Calif. and Mrs. Edna Turner and Mrs. Doris Emory, both of Groton; two brothers, Clyde of Mystic and Ernest Phelps of Lynn, E Mass.; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Pieretti and Mrs. Lucy Doyle, both of Groton; 29 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Impellitteri Memorial Home, New London. Burial will be in Avery Morgan Cemetery, Poquonnock Bridge.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
