Dwight Wood
WOOD, Dwight Reynolds M.D. Dwight Reynolds Wood, M.D., 90, of Farmington, died Sunday, (April 8, 2007), at John Dempsey Hospital. Born in Springfield, MA in 1916, he was a graduate of Bates College and Tufts Medical School. He interned at Hartford Hospital and served as a Medical Officer in the U.S. Navy from 1941 until 1947. He became OB-GYN Board Certified and served from 1954?1974 with the Hartford Hospital OB-GYN Staff. In 1974, he joined Lawrence Memorial Hospitals in New London, where he was a member of the OB-GYN Staff until his retirement. Dr. Wood was a member of the American Medical Association, Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Fellow of American College of Surgeons, Member of New England OB/GYN Society, Hartford County Medical Association, and the New London County Medical Association. He is survived by his wife, Jane Meier Wood of Farmington; his three children, Deborah W. Lilly of Carmel, IN., Dwight R. Wood, Jr. of Richmond, VA, and Druscilla W. Kadel of Manchester, MO; his two step-children, David W. D'Annolfo of Westfield, MA, and Deborah J. D'Annolfo of Farmington; his sister, Anne McDonald of Virginia; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Hayden R. Wood. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
