Winnie Spears
Winnie Vee Spears, 96, died May 30, 2018 in Amarillo, TX. Winnie was born October 31, 1921 in Denison, Texas to Richard and Alice Shockley. Mrs. Spears married A.C. Spears in 1955 in Amarillo. They moved to Borger and raised their family there. Mr. Spears was City Manager in Borger for 32 years. Winnie was very active in the community, especially with The Boys Club. She was also a member of the Dance Club and the Elks in Borger. She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Borger. Upon moving back to Amarillo she was active with the Senior Citizens and played in their band and loved calling Bingo. She was also very active with the AMVET Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband A.C. Spears October 6, 2017. Her son David Charles Spears in 1958, and son Donnie Gene Hunter in October 2017. She is survived by her daughter Deborah Spears McManus and husband Dave of Amarillo. four grandchildren; Leneta Gevonne Robison, Deborah Leighann Wyche, Samantha Lee Seago-Clarke and David Charles McManus. She also leaves 10, great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
