Andrew Weyer

WEYER, Andrew Patrick
October 17, 1930 - June 15, 2016
Friends and family are invited to a graveside service for A. Patrick Weyer, 85, of North Bend, at 11:00 am, on Saturday, June 25th, 2016, at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 63060 Millington Frontage Road, Coos Bay, followed by a celebration of life at Black Market Gourmet, 495 Central Ave., Coos Bay, from noon to 3:00 pm.
Pat was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, October 17, 1930, to Andrew and Jane Weyer. He passed away on June 15, 2016, in North Bend, Oregon. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Ann Weyer. He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Evenson) of 55 years, and three children: Rob Weyer and wife Betsy of Boston, Massachusetts; Ron Weyer and wife Kimberly of Snohomish, Washington; Andrea Sharman and husband Kent of North Bend, OR. Pat gave generously of his time and talents to his eight grandchildren: grandsons Austin, Casey, Eric, Joe, Andy and his fiancé Carina, and granddaughters Alexa, Anya, and Claire. He is also survived by two older brothers; Bill Weyer of West Virginia and Joe Weyer of Spokane, WA. He has many beloved nieces and nephews who have enriched his life.
Pat moved with his family to Spokane, WA in 1936, where he spent the remainder of his childhood. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, from 1950 to 1954. He then lived and worked in several states before moving his family to Oregon in 1964, where he worked as a maintenance supervisor for Menasha and Weyerhaeuser. He made many lifelong friends before retiring in 1993. Pat enjoyed a lifetime of hunting and fishing with close friends and family. He later took up woodworking and it gave him great pleasure to share his beautiful pieces of work. Pat had a passion for studying history and was a very well-read and self-educated man. He always had a story to share, which many times turned to a joke, catching one off guard. In the last ten years, he and Ruth found joy in the rich friendships they made in the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers association, while Pat accompanied the group as lead harmonica, playing throughout the county and state. We loved listening while he played our favorites, and we looked forward to hearing his latest joke or two. Pat, Dad, Grandpa, will always be in our hearts.
Contributions in Pat's memory may be made to the scholarship fund of District 5 of the Old Time Fiddlers Association (OOTFA), C/O Julie Toney, First Community Credit "Union, 150 Johnson Ave, Coos Bay, OR 97420
Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary, 405 Elrod Ave., Coos Bay, OR (541)267-4216
