Thomas McCarthy
Thomas Patrick McCarthy, 80, of Gallup Hill Road, passed away Dec. 29, 2009, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 28, 1929, in New London, the son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Maloney) McCarthy.
He married Beverly Phelps on Jan. 31, 1959, in Ledyard.
He served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard for eight years. He was employed as a crane operator for Whaling City Dredge & Dock and worked as a mechanic for New London Buick Co. He also worked as the caretaker of the Sergio Franchi estate.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He always placed his family first. He was a very generous and giving man who will be sadly missed by all.
In addition to Beverly, his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, he survived by his children, Maureen Lee and husband, Jack, of Anacortes, Wash., Kristin Morosky and husband, Jim, of Montville; brother, Jack McCarthy of New London; grandchildren, Hillary Waadevig and husband, Josh, Travis Lee, and Rachel Zuppe; and by great-grandchild, Hayden Waadevig.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur and Robert McCarthy.
A celebration of Thomas' life will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen, 53 Route 32, Montville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
