John E. Hamilton Funeral services for John E. Hamilton were held Sunday afternoon August 19th at 3.30 at the Desrochers - Sayles Funeral Parlor.
The Rev. Richard Mellerup of Danville, Vt. officiated at the service, which was largely attended by relatives. There was a profusion of flowers, which showed the esteem in which he was held.
The bearers were Mr. Erville Reynolds, Mr. Enos Johnston, Mr. Francis Johnston, Mr. John Johnston of St. Johnsbury, and Dr. J. R. Dole and Mr. Harry Carr of Danville, Vt.
Mr. Hamilton was born in Inverness, Que. in the year of 1858, the son of Peter and Anne McCurdie Hamilton. He came to Littleton, N. H. as a young boy, later moving to St. Johnsbury, where he was connected with the Fairbanks-Morse Co. for over fifty years, and until his retirement. For the past 18 years he has made his home with his son Dr. William A. Hamilton of Danville, Vermont.
He is survived by two sons, William A. and Edward J.; one daughter, Hazel; nephew, Perley Hamilton, of Stow, Mass.; besides several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Burial took place in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury with the Rev. Mellerup officiating. Among those from out of town attending were Mr. and Mrs. Percy Gray, Miss Eunice Macintyre, Sherbrooke, Que.; Mr. Edward Hamilton, Jane and Douglas of Montpelier Mr. Paul C. Hamilton and Mr. Edward J. Hamilton Jr. of Boston: and Mr. and Mrs. Allan B. MacDougal, Montpelier, Vermont.
