Mrs. Hamilton, Doctor's Widow, Danville, Dies
ST. JOHNSBURY Mrs. Frances Hamilton, 74, widow of Dr. William A. Hamilton, died Thursday morning in a Lyndonville convalescent home following a long illness.
Prior to her death, she was an active member of he Danville community, having served various organizations in a number of capacities.
She was born in North Danville, May 13, 1895, the daughter of William and Lillian (Kelsey) Clement.
She attended the North Danville school and was a graduate of St. Johnsbury College and did post graduate work at Lyndon Institute.
Following secretarial positions in | Lisbon, N.H. and St. Johnsbury, she was married on Oct. 8, 1918. She resided for the remainder of her life in Danville.
She was a member of the Danville Congregational Church, active in Girl Scout work, past president of the Danville PTA and the Danville Women's Club.
She was also a past matron of the Diamond Chapter O.E.S., past District Deputy of O.E.S., 5; Past Regent of the St. Jean de Crevecoeur Chapter of the DAR.
She was a member of the Danville Homemakers Group and the Danville Homemakers Society and a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
For more than 13 years she was local chairman and treasurer of the Salvation Army. She served on the Caledonia County Republican Committee.
At the time of her death she was collecting and organizing data preparatory to writing a history of the town.
She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Beverly Jenks and Mrs. Barbara Roberts both of Danville and Mrs. Frances Morse of Baldwin, N.Y.; one son, Paul Hamilton, of Watertown, Mass.; 14 grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lyman Morrill and Mrs. Herman Emmons, both of Danville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Danville Congregational Church with the Rev. Robert Moyer officiating. Burial in the family lot in the Danville Cemetery. Calderwood Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
