DOROTHA V. BLISH
HUNTINGTON - Dorotha V. Blish, 71, died in Fletcher Allen Health Care on Sunday, May 1, 2005, after several years of failing health. She was born in Huntington, March 28, 1934, the daughter of Heman Stevens Sr. and Gladys (Walton) Stevens.
She married Douglas Blish in Huntington on Dec. 9, 1950. Dorotha loved playing bingo and was fond of all animals. She was an avid pinochle and cribbage player. She is survived by her four daughters and their husbands, Susan and William White of Huntington, Debra and Bruce Gabaree of Jericho, Sindy and Gary Fay of Huntington, Sheila and Christopher Kleptz of Lincoln; her two brothers and their spouses, Harold and Nancy Stevens of Hardwick, Roger and Shirley Stevens of Richmond; her two sisters and their husbands, Rita and Paul Bradley of Huntington, Jerry and Clinton Hallock of Essex Junction; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her two sisters-in-law, Margaret Stevens of Colchester, Mavis Stevens of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Blish, in 1972; two sons, Douglas Blish Jr. and Steven Blish; three brothers, George Stevens, Stevens and Heman Stevens Jr. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 5, at 11 a.m. in Gifford Funeral Home, 22 Depot St., Richmond. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Chittenden County Dialysis Unit, c/0 Blanket Warmer Fund, 35 Joy Drive, South Burlington, Vt. 05403, and American Diabetes Association Vermont Office, 77 Hegeman Drive, Colchester, Vt. 05446.
