Girl, 16, drowns at Goulais
Girl 16 drowns at Goulais
A 16-year-old Goulais River girl drowned Tuesday night while swimming at Mud Creek a tributary of the Goulais River.
Ontario Provincial Police said they were notified by the Sault-Algoma Amublance Service at 7 pm of the accident.
The victim is Lori Grawbarger 16 daughter of Gloria Grawbarger Highway 552 Goulais River and the late Vincent Grawbarger.
The girl was swimming with four companions at Mud Creek which is one mile east of the junction of Highways 17 and 552 Her companions noticed her missing but it wasn’t until 15 minutes later that her body was noticed on the creek bottom in about two metres of water.
Efforts were made to revive' her through artificial respiration but without success.
She was taken to General Hospital by ambulance.
A post mortem was to have been conducted today by Dr DE Brooks.
She is survived by her mother a brother Edwin and a sister Alison.
