YATES, Patricia (Pat) Anne
February 25, 1934 – December 8, 2017 – With great sadness we announce the passing of a loving wife, Mom, Grandmother and great grandmother. Patricia was a loving wife of 46 years to John Charles Yates (2002) of Gananoque and she will be greatly missed by her 5 children, Maureen Mangan (Steven), Colleen Emmerson (Andrew), Patti Wing, Chris Yates (Theresa) and Kathy Mangan (Gary 2004). Patricia leaves a legacy in her 15 grandchildren, John (Suzi), Stephanie (Mike), Melissa (Shawn), Michelle(Pavel), Jaime (Travis), Leslie, John Miller, Travis (Denise), Matthew (Sierra), Shannon (Noel), Mark (Miranda), Sarah (Nick), Patrick (Julie), Kyle and Connor, all who carry wonderful memories of a fun loving and caring “Nanny”. Pat’s legacy also includes 13 great grandchildren, Steven, Caden, Jordan, Charles, Dylan, Hudson, Nathan, Vanessa, Olivia, Barrett, Eloise, Charlotte, and Norah.
Pat was born to parents James and Helen (Dunleavy) Sheridan of Brockville, Ontario. She is survived by her sister Helen Fenlon and predeceased by sisters Mary Ford and Alice Goodbody and brothers Tom and Joe. She is also survived by many sister and brother-in-laws as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pat enjoyed a fulfilling career as a caring and much-loved teacher at CFB Kingston teaching at Lundy’s Lane and Niagara Park schools. Pat earned an honours degree from Queens University while she was working and raising her 5 children. She was a long-time member of the Beta Sigma Phi Society in Gananoque. In her retirement years Patricia enjoyed winters at her home in St. Petersburg Florida. Pat was highly intelligent, kind and had a wonderful sense of humour.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Carveth Nursing Home for all their wonderful care of their mother over the years.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 20 from 6-9pm at TOMPKINS FUNERAL HOME 63 Garden St. Gananoque. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 21st at St. John the Evangelist Church in Gananoque. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to St. John the Evangelist Church in Gananoque and the Canadian Diabetes Societies.
