James Polly

James A. Polly December 30, 2011 James A. Polly, 73, of Syracuse passed away Friday. He worked for Loblaws for over 20 years and retired from Smith's Supermarket in Cicero. Jim retired from the Army National Guard after 21 years, where he was a staff sergeant who started in the 27th Infantry and retired from the 10th Mountain Division in 1986. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Peggy Polly. Surviving are his wife, Joan Durling Polly; his children, Robert, Timothy (Amy) and Brian; his grandchildren, Leighsa (Matt) McClean and Cpl. Brett Leskinen USMC stationed in BAHRAIN MARCENT, Saudi Arabia; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan (Tom) Squadrito and Alice (Vincent) Montalto; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Durling Holihan; nieces, Kelley (Bill) Kriesel, Melissa (Mike) Meyer, Erin Greco, Bonnie (Frank) Gagliardi, Melissa Polly and Kathleen (Michael) Finn; nephews, Michael (Deborah) Polly, William (Joy) Polly and Danny (Katie) Squadrito; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and -nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Nancy Kemeny and her team from Sloan Kettering for all the wonderfull care they gave Jim and a special thanks to Rachel Shea "110." Services: 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Butler-Badman Funeral Home, Inc., 4504 W. Seneca Tpk., with a Mass to follow at 10 a.m. in St. James Church. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Miracle House.
