The Late Thomas McKay
The funeral at Clayton on Monday of Mr. Thomas McKay was largely attended, friends being present from Ottawa, Carleton Place, Lanark, Middleville, Arnprior, Pakenham, Almonte and Blakeney to pay respect to one who has spent all his life in this vicinity.
Mr. McKay was born in Darling, a son of the late Alexander McKay and his wife Esther McDonald, and was in his 90th year. His parents came from Scotland, in the year 1832 and settled in Darling 66 years ago.
Deceased married Annie Rintoul and they settled on the farm owned by Mr. Charles McKay. About six years ago Mrs. McKay predeceased him and since that time he has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. John R. Reid in Ramsay. Не is survived by two brothers, James of Middleville and Hugh of Merrickville; also four daughters, Mrs. John R. Reid of Ramsay, Mrs. Wm. Meaty of Minto, Man.; Mrs. John W. Robertson of Ewart, Man.; Mrs. Janes Rodger of Almonte; five sons, John of Arnprior, Alex of Sinclair, Man., Thomas of Sinclair, Man., Welland of Almonte and Charles of Darling.
The service was conducted by Rev. A.J. Fowlie of Almonte, assisted by Rev. G.F. Maner, of Blakeney, at the home of Mr. John R. Reid. Interment was made in the United church cemetery at Clayton. The pallbearers were four sons, John, Thomas, Welland and Charles; two nephews, Alex McKay of Middleville and George McKay of Arnprior.
