George Rhodey

William George Rhodey was born August 4, 1943, in Kitchener, Ontario to William and Edith Rhodey. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Rita. He is survived by his wife Rita, daughters Michelle (Markus Liebe), Sandra, son Shawn (Amy) and daughter Gwendolyn (Everette Calverley). Nine grandchildren – Kathrina, Amanda, Allison, Thompson, Adam, Cooper, Tyler, Massey and Addisyn. He is also survived by his brother Verdun and sister-in-law Glenna. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, William (1979) and Edith (1958), stepmothers’ Lauretta (1960) and Lena (1999), brother James (2015), brother David (2023) sister Mary Harmer (2024), brother-in-law Bruce Harmer (2021), sister-in-law Mary Rhodey (2002) nephew Troy Rhodey (1999) and foster brother Joey Foreman (1966).
George graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science and Masters in Chemical Engineering in 1968.
After graduating, George worked at various companies including, CIL (Montreal), Come by Chance Oil Refinery (Newfoundland), Syncrude (Fort McMurray), Liberia Oil (Monrovia, Liberia), and Petro Canada Head Office (Calgary). He started his own consulting company in 1992 until his retirement where he worked on numerous different projects around the world.
George enjoyed being surrounded by his many grandchildren, traveling and meeting new people and helping those in need, playing hockey with the young folks, playing piano and singing.
George made his choice to serve God at 17 years of age and stayed true to that choice. His faith kept him throughout his life.
A special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Father Lacombe Care Centre for their excellent care and kindness.
There will be a funeral service held on Friday January 10 at 2pm, at Eden Brook Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, followed with a graveside burial, then reception.
