John Wilbert Robertson, 71, A Highly Respected Pioneer, Is Dead
Reston, Man - John Wilbert Robertson, 71, a highly respected pioneer resident of the Ewart district, died in the Brandon General Hospital, on Sunday, Nov. 23rd, following a brief illness. John, who was born in Clayton, Ont., came to this district in 1901 and was actively engaged in farming up to the time of his death.
He was a member of the Council of Pipestone Municipality, and took an active part in the affairs of that body. He was re-elected by acclamation at the ratepayers meeting in October, and would have begun another term on January 1st.
He was a member of the Reston Masonic Lodge, and burial yesterday was with Masonic honors.
Two daughters, Edna at home, and Eleanor (Mrs. R. Gibson) of Ottawa, Ont., survive him; also two brothers, Herbert of Fertile, and Archie of Victoria, B. C. and two sisters, Mrs. G. Volger, of Clayton, Ont., and Mrs. T. McMunn, of Carleton Place, Ont.
His wife, the former Mary Ann McKay predeceased him in 1940.
Funeral services were held yesterday (Wednesday) in the Sinclair United Church, with Rev. G. A. Colpitts officiating. Burial was in the family plot in the Sinclair cemetery. Pallbearers were Elgin Gray, James Forsyth, B. Josephson, W. A Reid, Charles Zarn and Jim McMunn.
