Jean Plant
Jean Plant, a much loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and devoted servant of her God, Jehovah, entered peacefully into His memory Tuesday, March 8, 2016.
Bertha Jean King was born to Charlie and Irene King on August 25, 1924 in Melfort, Saskatchewan. She lived her school aged years in rural Saskatchewan growing up the oldest in a family of ten children.
Her grandfather and mother taught her what she came to regard as precious truths. Her deep faith in God’s Word greatly influenced her life. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses August 27, 1939. In 1948 she moved to Dauphin where she met Stewart Plant who shared her faith. They married on June 21, 1949 and raised their family of two girls and two boys on a farm north of Ashville, Manitoba. Her love of family and extended family was a constant throughout her life as was her love of neighbour which moved her to share her precious hope with others.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Stewart, her sisters Grace and Shirley, her brother Bob and her sons-in-law Norman and Sigurd.
Treasuring memories of her love and fine example are her daughters Lois Scharf and Donna Olsen, her sons Tom and his wife Heather and Bert and his wife Carole, her three grandchildren Timothy and Elizabeth Scharf and Douglas Plant. Also remembered with great affection by her siblings Verna, Ken, Del, Edna, Glen and Marilyn and their families, numerous relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held for Jean on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 1:00 pm from the Sneath-Strilchuk Chapel in Dauphin with Mr. Gordon QuoVadis officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
