POWASSAN - The death of Rodney Stewart Byers, formerly of. Callander and now of Port Elgin, occurred Wednesday as the result of an automobile accident on Hwy. 21 at Port Elgin. He was 33 and had grown up in the Lighthouse Beach area.
The family will receive friends at the Paul Funeral Home and funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Paul Chapel. Interment will be at the Nipissing Cemetery.
Born at Callander, Aug. 24, 1937, Mr. Byers was the son of Mrs. Duncan Byers of North Bay and the late Mr. Byers. He attended school at Wasi and was a construction workers. Mr. Byers left Callander for Port Elgin some three months ago. He was married at Callander in 1962 to the former Laurette Huneault.
Surviving are his wife, his mother in North Bay, two sons Randy and Keith and a daughter, Lisa Ann, all at home. He is also survived by a brother James Byers of Callander, and seven sisters: Mrs. A. Rennette (Irene), St. Catharines; Mrs. C. Liberty (Elda), Mrs. G. Simms (Ruth), Miss Edaleen Byers, Mrs. Edith Drover, all of North Bay; Mrs. A. McWilliam (Edna) of Feronia and Mrs. W. Johnson (Sylvia) of Corbeil.
