Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Jane Thurston Gladding, 72, wife of John Gladding, Jr., of 1 Arnold avenue and member of a family long connected with Newport, died Monday night at Newport Hospital following a long illness.
Born in this city, daughter of the late Thomas W., and Matilda T. Freeborne, Mrs. Gladding was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church. She was a sister of the late T. Lawrence Freeborne, for years physical director at the Mary street Y. M. C. A.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Captain Douglas V. Gladding, U. S. N., two daughters, Miss Dorothy B. Gladding and Mrs. Dwight C. Hambly of this city, three grandchildren and a great grandchild.
Services will be held Thursday afternoon at the Hambly Funeral Home. Interment will. be in the Island cemetery.
